The Support Worker (Personal Assistant) is a key support and care role in Michael’s high quality support package.

Reporting to Dawn Benson (Michaels Mum) and his court of protection deputies.

The post holder will be responsible for:

- Supporting Michael in his decision making
- Providing hands on support, care and therapies to Michael
- Administration of medication and when needed providing first aid to Michael
- Keeping Michaels home and equipment in a good state of operation
- Following and where necessary, contributing to Michael’s care plan.
- Manage, and where needed, initiate health appointments for Michael
- Identify emerging health and wellbeing needs
- Organising Michael’s home environment, systems and equipment. Identify and report maintenance issues
- Maintaining own mandatory training
- Contributing to the maintenance of a healthy and balanced menu for Michael
- Supporting Michael in shopping for his food and household items
- Creating shopping lists reporting to supervisors when items need to be replenished
- Undertaking all forms of domestic tasks associated with Michael and his home, vehicle and equipment
- Cooking and undertaking excellent food hygiene
- Supporting Michael and provide personal care
- Supporting Michael to and undertaking all tasks associates with his assistance dog Jack
- Supporting Michaels social inclusion and opportunities to live his preferred life
- Advocating for Michael
- Any other duties as required by Michael or supervisor

**Education & Qualification**

Educated to NVQ level 2 or 3 or A level or equivalent, with understanding and experience in management, support and care, disability equality, healthy eating and exercise. (D)

Full clean driving license (E)

**Skills & Abilities**

Excellent oral and good written communication (E)

Proficient IT skills and ability to use Microsoft office packages & understanding of finance and budgeting (E)

Well-developed negotiating and influencing skills (E)

Ability to work autonomously with mínimal supervision and to be highly motivated as part of a small and specialist team (E)

Skills in maintain high levels of domestic standards in all domains (E)

Experience and skills in playing games on PlayStation/Xbox and have a high level of patience in supporting others to develop their skills (E)

Ability to follow a plan and convert written information into practical task (E)

Experience Experience of supporting decision making (D)

Experience or providing personal care to others including washing, toilet, preparing food (D)

Experience of using gym equipment and physical exercise (D)

Experience of dogs (walking, exercising, feeding, training (D)

Experience of following/preparing a risk assessment (D)

Experience of advocating for others (D)

Knowledge & understanding Experience and understanding of the social model of disability (E)

Knowledge and understanding of person-centred care (E)

Knowledge of supporting a disabled person to use a power wheelchair (D)

Knowledge of infection control processes (D)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: Up to £30,880.00 per year

Expected hours: No less than 16 per week
