Deputy Team Leader

We are looking for a Deputy Team Leader to assist in the management of the day to day resources to enable the support and assistance of the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of all aspects of patient care. They will have to maintain a supportive learning environment enabling the team to meet the evolving needs of the service, assist in budgetary and stock control to ensure the provision of a high quality and cost effective service.
The post site is based on the Wrightington site within the day surgery and is for both Anaesthetics and Recovery, however cross site working at Wigan is required as part of the role when service requirements need.

- Assist in the management of the day to day resources to enable the support and assistance of the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of all aspects of patient care and accept the responsibility and accountability for the performance outcomes.
- To maintain a supportive learning environment enabling the team to meet the evolving needs of the service, assist in budgetary and stock control to ensure the provision of a high quality and cost effective service.
- To provide a high standard of patient care and skilled expert assistance in all specialities and areas as required.
- Act as an ambassador for the department in professional settings.
- Be accountable for the standards of practice within the theatre team promoting a professional patient centred approach to care.
- Assisting with promoting the delivery of evidence based patient focused care.
- Recognises the appropriateness of transferable skills when providing individualised patient care.
- Identifying, maintaining and improving the quality of care through facilitation of evidence based practice.
- Participation in managing effectively and clearly identifying what is required of others, setting goals and targets and providing accurate feedback on performance roles and responsibilities.

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
- Assisting with promoting the delivery of evidence based patient focused care.

- Demonstrating sound leadership skills, principles, which reflect an awareness of local/national policies and strategies, and ensure up-to-date knowledge of legal matters that, may arise.
- Assisting with the development of competencies (in self and team) which safeguard practice and effectiveness in role(s) and lead the team as a credible and accountable practitioner. Ensuring compliance with NMC/HPC Codes of Conduct.
- Demonstrating understanding of the effective use of allocated resources / funding.
- Demonstrating an understanding and working knowledge of skill mix.
- Demonstrating and participating in development of the service to meet demands, and adapt to the changing needs of the service.
- Empowering self and team to creatively meet professional and organization objectives.
- Promoting safe systems, which assure all aspects of risk reduction, compliant with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the agenda for Clinical Governance. Maintain Clinical and managerial records in accordance with current guidelines ensuring adverse incidents are
reported to the appropriate person without delay.
- Maintaining Health and Safety, and Control of Infection in clinical areas in line with trust policies and procedures.
- Delegate tasks to the team members that reflect their level of competency.
- Deputise in the absence of the Senior Team Leader when required
