**Database Administrator (Hybrid)**

dnata Travel are on the search for a Database Administrator to manage and advance our capabilities by providing support and maintenance solutions for database systems. The position includes providing new architectures and scalability solutions to ever growing business and data processing needs. You will promote technical excellence within the team, have a working knowledge of best practices, and be comfortable working as part of cross functional team, supporting the wider business. You will also be comfortable working with a distributed team across a number of different locations.

dnata Travel Group, part of the Emirates Group, includes the brands of Gold Medal, Netflights, Travelbag, Travel Republic, and Sunmaster. These brands are based at offices across the UK including Preston (Leyland), Kingston-upon-Thames, Chester and Halifax.

**The role**:
As Database Administrator, you’ll be joining an experienced, fast-moving team who continue to explore new technologies, tools & techniques to both grow this global platform and to service the growing needs of the business that the platform supports.

You will be responsible for database operations and continuous improvement, to provide expert advice and guidance on database management good practice, driving operational excellence to ensure systems remain highly available, reliable and resilient, and complying with all Company Information Services policies and standards.

You will have a proven strong SQL server expertise and be expected to work independently on live production performance issues and be expected to work proactively and help to maintain stable, scalable and secure systems so that business achieves great outcomes.

Being a key part of the DBA team, your contributions will make a big difference to the business. There will be room for growth within the team and also we’ll other you training opportunities to help keep you skilled in the latest related technologies and methodologies.

You will help to streamline maintenance processes, enhance documentation, share knowledge with team and others, be able to run with a task, and see to fruition, liaise with developers, help with code analysis, performance tuning, and production releases in a fast changing and quite high paces at times environment.

Key challenges will be datacentre migrations, Azure integrations, OnPrem patching and maintenance, scalable solutions, enhancing performance.

Working environment is chiefly MS SQL Enterprise solutions, All SQL versions.

**Experience**:

- Full experience of SQL Server mid-senior level on production systems.
- Awareness of implementations and management of high availability solutions like Clustering,
- AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Replication.
- Detailed knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning, Backup / Restore strategies, partitioning, InMemory OLTP, SSIS and SSRS.
- Technical troubleshooting skills for software, hardware, and related network communications
- Support software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures.
- Manage production, QA and development database environments.
Working experience of any other RDBMS (like MySQL, PostgreSQL) a benefit.
- Communication skills, enthusiasm, and able to work on own initiative.
- Willing to be part of an on-call team providing 24/7 support Azure Integrations, and best practices, security

**Desirable**:

- Windows server clustering, security, storage components.
- Cloud infrastructure (Azure), including automation / scripting techniques.
- Scripting language like PowerShell
- Documentation skills for processes and procedures.
- Experience of large scale SQL Eenterprise systems.
- Replication to Cloud services
- DB System Design
- DB Documentation
- Non SQL Server technologies like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, assandra
- Be familiar with large databases and the challenges they bring.
