Centrica Energy Trading is part of Centrica’s Energy Marketing and Trading business unit with head offices located across Aalborg (Denmark) and London (UK). Along with our 700+ colleagues in Germany, Sweden, Norway, Singapore and the UK, we handle over 14 gigawatts of energy from all over Europe.

We are looking for a **Senior Originator** to work with us in creating long-term energy deals that move the green transition forward. The job role is focused on expanding our business in renewable energy, flexible generation and corporate supply across Europe and Spain/Iberia in particular.

Within this role you will help shape the future of energy and move the world towards a low carbon economy; work in an energetic business environment with some of the world’s biggest investors and businesses and be joining an ambitious & experienced team, dedicated to being the best within the renewable PPA business.

The Senior Originator will have the following key purposes:

- Expand EM&Ts access to accounts across renewable investors, corporate offtakers, PPA supply partners and investors in flexible assets
- Originate, prioritise, and negotiate physical and financial commodity agreements with both Generation Offtake and Electricity Consumers to maximise incremental NPV
- Engage with industry participants and stakeholders such as TSOs, DSOs, market leading customers, peers/competitors to help all of EM&T maintain a high-level understanding of market trends, requirements and to improve our understanding how the market is valuating and accepting key risks including balancing, shaping and other PPA-related risks.

This role would be based out of either London or Madrid with regular travel to counterparties and other Centrica offices in Europe.

**Key Accountabilities**:
Deal execution
- Build a pipeline of deal opportunities within region/market of employment in accordance with the market strategy and across generator PPAs, corporate PPAs, corporate supply agreements, OTC energy commodity contracts and green certificate agreements.
- Develop, negotiate and execute structured energy transactions with a focus on renewable PPAs and corporate PPAs, to meet Centrica’s ambitious targets
- Organise and drive cross-regional bids for PPAs, CPPAs etc. where the main bid component is within the relevant market domain
- Execute on opportunities to reduce risk and optimise earnings within our existing portfolio of transactions. This may include re-negotiating deals to change its risk profile, contract extensions or terminations.
- Determine and actively participate in our marketing and branding efforts - align which events to participate in, where do we sponsor and where do we seek speaker slots
- Represent the company in the markets at conferences, fairs, etc.

Account and customer management
- Work to develop and maintain relationships with generators, IPPs, project developers, investors, banks, utilities/local suppliers and corporate customers.

Development and deal structuring
- Have a clear understanding of the route-to-market full operating model and value chain, and how standard and non-standard transactions are being processed.
- Translate observed market issues into solutions in close cooperation with the rest of the organisation. This entails working responsibly on developing new structures and risk profiles to increase business volumes and profit margins whilst understanding operational implications in the process.
- Work collaboratively with the portfolio management teams on solving portfolio constraints such as risk capital, working capital, concentration, standardisation topics to ensure smooth and scalable contracting.

Market intelligence
- Possess an always updated product understanding which may include deep knowledge of electricity grid codes, renewable energy policies for renewable power and gas, derivatives risk profiles and operational and cash flow implications of the relevant products/structures
- Comply with all operational governance and responsibilities, including the approval authority (DoA), pricing policy, product approval process, credit policy, KYC policy and compliance and data policies.

**The Person**:
Industry expertise
- Experience from working in energy commodity origination, preferably from the power market
- Experience from working on renewable PPAs and, preferably corporate PPAs
- Domain knowledge of the Energy Industry, hereunder wholesale market regulation, market practice for physical and financial energy trading and specific knowledge of practices and rules for renewable assets
- Strong understanding of renewable finance and corporate procurement trends.

Excellent sales, deal structuring and negotiation skills
- Proven track record from developing and closing large commodity transactions
- Experience and familiarity with non-standard power contracts and preferably with long-term renewable PPAs, basic knowledge of project-financing and master trade agreements
