Montacute Ward Receptionist

Montacute Ward is looking for an experienced Receptionist to support the wards to deliver an excellent service to our patients by providing a welcoming environment during their admission to the ward.

You should have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work as part of a team. You will be IT literate and be able to work accurately and prioritise your workload. Previous experience of reception work in a medical environment is desirable but not essential

You will provide administration and reception duties for the ward, communicating with patients, clinical staff and colleagues in an efficient and polite manner. You will also receive, assist and direct patients and undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the ward in accordance with agreed procedures and policies.

You will work in a large multi-disciplinary team where being a compassionate and approachable is essential.

This is a part-time, permanent position, working 23 hours per week over 2 days between the hours of 7:00am - 7:30 pm, Monday to Sunday.
- The role will support the ward to ensure exceptional patient care and communication with visitors at every visit.
- You will greet patients and their relatives, offer support and guidance, where appropriate.
- Handle telephone enquiries and delegate effectively and appropriately.
- Effective liaison with departments maintaining good working relationships.
- Utilising the computer systems as per receptionist role e.g. bed management.
- Manage transport arrangements and bookings for patients as per care/discharge plans.
- Being approachable.
- Correct storage and handling of sensitive patient information maintain confidentiality at all times.
- General administrative tasks including photocopying, filing.
- Upholding the Trust Values.

Montacute Ward is a mixed-speciality surgical ward caring for patients on emergency and elective pathways collaborating a of a large multi-disciplinary team. Montacute Ward is a 40-bedded unit however can accommodate 50 in times of escalation.

Musgrove Park Hospital is situated in Taunton, in the middle of Somerset. It has on-site parking and excellent transport links. The bus from town arrives every 12 mins and there are two Park and Rides which drop off at the hospital. It is close to the M5 which gives easy access to Bristol and Exeter.
