**Location**:
You will be based at Ilkeston Ply and DIY’s branch on Awsworth Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 8JF, and you may be required to conduct local and regional deliveries.

**Schedule**:
Monday - Friday: 7.30am - 4.30pm

Every other Saturday: 8am - 12pm

**Position overview**:
Yard and Mill Operative will work closely with the Yard and Mill Team to ensure that a high level of customer service and health and safety is achieved and maintained. You will be required to work alongside the Operations Manager and Sales Team to ensure that customer needs are met, with an aim to maintain stock levels, keep all areas tidy to the highest standard, uphold the company’s reputation and work towards Ilkeston Ply’s long-term goals. The role will require occasional holiday cover to ensure consistent management of the yard duties.

The role is both physically and mentally demanding, with the successful applicant required to manually load delivery vehicles, assist customers with orders into their own vehicles and restock a wide variety of items.

**Key roles and responsibilities**:

- Act as a point of contact for customers in the yard
- Liaise with the sales team to fulfil customer orders
- Track and maintain stock levels across all product types
- Maintain strong product knowledge to be able to help customers
- Responding to customer queries and resolving any issues presented
- Advise marketing team on current trends or products to advertise
- Work with external suppliers to process customer orders
- Perform the role in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures outlined in our handbook.
- Other duties as required by the business.
- Load and unload ordered and goods using counter balance FLT when if / when trained
- Be willing and confidently to uptake the use of plant and machinery if / when trained

**Other requirements**:

- A clean, UK driving license (desired)

- Must be able to work well with others as well as on your own initiative
- Great customer service skills
- Qualifications & experience in woodworking machinery (desirable)
- Counter balance FLT certificate (desirable)
- Banksman Training (desirable)
- Health and Safety knowledge (essential)
- Able to follow instructions and work efficiently
