We are seeking RMNs to assume the role of Clinical Team Leader CTL) on 2 of our Acute Wards and the Health Based Place of Safety (HBPoS) at St. Charles.

Applicants should be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with at least 18-24 months post registration experience.

As a CTL, you will be responsible for supporting the Ward manager to lead a dedicated team of registered and unregistered staff by having an active role in developing, monitoring and maintaining care standards; through role modelling, clear decision making and demonstrating your highly developed clinical skills.

As a CTL in a HBPoS, you will have the responsibility of receiving patients who have been detained under Sec 136 and Sec 135. Your main duty will be to ensure that these patients are assessed promptly, which will involve working closely with AMHP Services, the Central Flow Hub, the Police, and the unit staff. In addition, your role will also entail assessing and managing the risks of the patients in your care.

Overall, your role as CTL will require strong leadership skills, effective communication, and a deep understanding of mental health care. You will play a critical role in ensuring that all patients receive the highest quality of care and support, and that their needs are met with compassion, empathy, and professionalism.

The posts require applicants to be able to work all shifts including night duty and adopting the “Bleep Holder Role” as required.

You will also receive individual supervision as well as support in reflective practice groups.

Patient Safety

Band 6 nurses contribute to the provision of safe and reliable services by:

The NMC plays an important role in safeguarding the public by regulating the work of nurses and all nurses, including Band 6 nurses, are expected to register with the NMC each year and adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct.

Clinical Outcomes

Band 6 nurses often work with people who have complex needs and contribute to the effectiveness of services by:

- Being confident, autonomous practitioners who take responsibility for the care they give to patients but also take responsibility for overseeing the work of others in the team including less experienced nurses and staff without a professional qualification
- Providing skilled, evidence based nursing care which adheres to agreed policies and procedures
- Working with patients and families in all stages of the care planning process including assessing risks and needs
- Acting as patient advocates in the multi-disciplinary team and overseeing the work of others to ensure that they are also responding to the needs of patients and providing clinically effective care
