An exciting opportunity has arisen at South Wales Police to join the Learning and Development Operational Training Unit as a Police Staff 6/SO1 Operational Trainer.

You will be at the forefront of planning and delivering training to all who attend the training unit, both internally and externally, helping develop those individuals in line with Force/National requirements.

About the team/Department you will be joining:

- We are a large team who are based in Bridgend, but there may be the requirement on occasion for the successful applicant to work at other locations throughout the force, and out of force for Public Order.
- We work between 7am-5pm 4 days a week, and some weekends for Events, and Special Constable training.
- Trainers are multi-functional and deliver training across all areas of business including but not restricted to, Personal Safety Training, Taser, First Aid and Public Order.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

- To plan and deliver innovative training, complete associated administration and develop all South Wales Police officers, staff and external bodies as necessary.
- To promote and Champion Operational Training, both within South Wales Police and externally with other law enforcement agencies and partners.
- Responsible for the protection of life and property, and the maintenance of public order through a range of sworn powers in line with organisational standards.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

- The applicant must be the holder of either a police trainer’s certificate, a Certificate in Teaching in Lifelong Learning Section (CTLLS), a Certificate in Education & Training (CET), or have successfully obtained a Certificate in Education/P.G.C.E in post 16 Education or equivalent (or be prepared to attend a course to successfully obtain this qualification),
- Also, should hold a suitable assessor qualification (TAQA) (or be prepared to attend a course to successfully gain this qualification).
- The applicant should hold a suitable Public Order Training qualification (or be prepared to attend a course to successfully gain this qualification).
