Job description

Join us as a Risk & Controls Lead
- We’re looking for an experienced Risk and Controls Lead to manage a team of risk specialists responsible for first-line technology, conduct, payments, financial crime, records and model risk areas.
- As a member of the Risk ‘management team’ you will be responsible for informing quarterly risk priorities, developing your team and embedding the enterprise wide risk management framework.

What you'll do

In this highly collaborative role, you’ll support, develop and embed the enterprise wide risk management framework, overseeing and challenging effective risk and controls management within agreed risk appetites across the specialist risk areas. We’ll look to you to proactively drive the assessment and implementation of policy changes, converting these into appropriate strategies and action plans to ensure compliance and work with teams across the business, (particularly Product, Operations and Technology Teams), to provide technical expertise and advice on regulatory compliance impact and requirements.

You’ll also be:

- Demonstrating risk leadership and advocacy to promote a culture of proactive, pre-emptive and pragmatic risk management and continuous improvement
- Providing guidance and support in relation to the risk and control management, ensuring regulatory obligations and internal governance requirements are met
- Driving the evolution of risk and control processes, key risk indicators and oversight of your stakeholders risks
- Coaching your team to drive and oversee remedial action plans, ensuring they are robust and timely, and tracked to completion
- Managing relationships with the second line of defence and functional partners, promoting clarity of responsibilities through effect lines of communication, whilst maintaining transparency

The skills you'll need

You’ll also bring:

- Demonstrated strong knowledge of FCA Handbook requirements including conduct risk experience, payment regulations and risk frameworks employed by most large banks.
- Ability to convey complex information and ideas clearly to stakeholders and embed policy, processes and controls that balance compliance and commerciality
- Strong planning, coordination and analytical skills - and the ability to think creatively in an independent capacity when resolving complex problems to sometimes tight deadlines, planning and prioritising appropriately
- You’ll be familiar with Agile practices and able to work in an iterative way, in keeping with the methods used across all Product and software engineering teams in NatWest Boxed
