**A bit about the role**

The Gael Og Moving On /Criminal Justice Service is part of Action for Children and is based at Rail House, Inverness.

The Young Persons Practitioner role is a hybrid position working across both the Moving On and Criminal Justice services.

**Moving On**: supports young males aged 16-21 prior to and after release from Prison. The aim is to offer Mentoring support to reduce the risks of reoffending. The key areas of support is with Housing and Accommodation, Training, Volunteering and Employment and the benefits system. The role involves offering weekly support sessions within the office base and at times out in the community. The hours are Monday to Friday 9-5 but on occasion and overnight stay will be required when visiting Polmont Prison in Falkirk.

**Criminal Justice**: supports adults both male and female aged 16 plus within the Criminal Justice System. We offer programme work as an alternative to custody, the aim is to support rehabilitation and reduce the risk of further offending, clients are referred by Criminal Justice Social Work through their Court Order.

We offer weekly 1-1 sessions where the client will attend the office or we will meet them at a local criminal justice office. Full training is given on the content and delivery of the training programmes. The hours are Monday to Friday 9-5 but on occasion we will offer sessions out with normal working hours.

**How you'll help to create brighter futures**

You'll make a great difference in the lives of the Adults by;
- Overseeing, delivering and evaluating individual work aimed at helping adults to develop their abilities through assessment, intervention and evaluation.
- Assessing adults needs and promote health and wellbeing by offering appropriate interventions and experiences; using accredited models.
- Preparing written reports to contribute to the wider Court Report, and to present these details to the Criminal Justice Social Worker.

- A UK driving licence and a willingness to travel due to the large rural catchment area.
- To work cross functionally with other services within Gael Og to ensure that Action for Children's Values and strategic objectives are achieved.
- To guide and support less experienced staff.
