**Cycle Mechanic - St Albans**
Do you have a passion for bikes, an eye for detail, and enjoy giving something back?
We have a great opportunity at the new St Albans cycle hub for a fully trained Bicycle mechanic. Not only will you have access to the fully kitted workshop including Park Tool master kit, wash station, you’ll also have access to the onsite facilities, these include: Pump track, Cyclocross track, Dirt Jump trails and a leisure track
**What the Cycle Hub does**:
We aim to get people to raise their physical activity levels and get them out on their bikes by:
- Repairing and servicing their existing bikes
- Supplying them with a decent reconditioned bike if they don’t already have one; we select the best of the donated bikes and make them like new for their next owner
- Training them how to ride a bike if they are new to cycling or lacking confidence (Child / Adult / Women-only courses)
- Providing more advanced training utilising the on site facilities
- Leading them around the local area through a varied Guided Ride programme which is accessible, enjoyable and challenging.
- Teaching them to perform simple maintenance themselves if they’d like to.
**What your role at the Cycle Hub will be**:
The Cycle Mechanic role is a crucial part of the team, reporting to the Cycle Hub Manager, and is responsible for the booking-in, assessing, servicing, repair and overhauling a variety of customer, fleet & donated bikes to an exceptional standard.

Location: St Albans
Rate of pay: Negotiable dependant on experience
Working Hours: up to 38 hrs per week (full time)
Holidays: Statutory holiday allowance
**Responsibilities include but not limited to**
- Perform standard servicing & repairs to customer and fleet bikes to an exceptional standard.
- Assist in the recycling of bikes through the assessment, stripping down, reconditioning, and repurposing of salvaged parts.
- Ensure that all electronic and paper records are completed accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining customer confidentiality and adherence to data protection policies.
- Act as an ambassador for the other aspects of the cycle hub, identifying referral opportunities for training, rides and retail / accessory options based on customer needs.
- Provide support for Cycle Hub events
- Maintain a clean and tidy workshop environment
**You will have the following experience / personality**
- A recognised Cycle Mechanic trade qualification (Cytech, City and Guilds or equivalent)
- Have a good grasp of the workings of a bike and demonstrate the aptitude required to be a successful mechanic
- You strive for improvement, learn from and open to others, sharing knowledge for the good of the team, customers, and the business.
- Strong desire to learn and master every aspect of the Workshop and its processes.
