Clinical Education Facilitator

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work within the Practice Development Team. The Clinical Education Facilitator will work with practice assessors to support individual healthcare practitioners who are undertaking professional learning programmes.
The post holder will work autonomously, in supporting supervisors and assessors, apprentices and student nurses in practice to provide safe, compassionate high quality nursing care.
It is an expected the post holder will support development of the learning environment to ensure Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA), and the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IFATE) standards are met.
When required the Clinical Education Facilitator will be required to coordinate and escalate concerns regarding a learner’s progress this will require liaison with the education provider, the clinical area and learner, to ensure processes are adhered to. The post holder will be required to keep meticulous notes and contribute to data collection and reports as appropriate for internal departments and external organisations.
The post holder will be required to work closely with clinical areas and will be required to maintain clinical currency. This will be supported through work-based learning activity and clinical practice.
Support the Leads for Clinical Education development, Preceptorship and Pre-registration nursing to provide an outstanding experience of learning with the Practice Development Team.
The key focus will be on higher clinical apprenticeships and supporting learners in practice.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Further develop practice assessors and preceptors within their roles
- Provide direct advice and support to learners ensuring communication to other health and
- education personnel who are involved
- Support clinical environments to meet the required educational standards for the NMC and IFATE
- Communicate with internal and external colleagues involved with education provision
- Where appropriate be an active team member with the recruitment process of learners
- When required represent NBT at external meetings and feedback to appropriate Lead
- Facilitate and present as required at NBT local induction sessions for pre-registration students, preceptees, Trainee Nursing Associate and Registered Degree Nursing Apprenticeships.
- Act as a point of contact for TNA and RND Apprentices, practice supervisors and assessors.
- Ensure there are robust process and systems in place for the evaluation of relevant education programmes and clinical practice areas.

- Awareness of the nursing apprenticeship agenda both locally and nationally.
- Knowledge of the pre-registration nursing programme and the requirements to be met within clinical practice
- Understanding of the importance of preceptorship for newly qualified healthcare professionals
- Awareness and knowledge of the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards for Nurse Education
- Understanding of the support networks for learners within the clinical setting
- Evidence of assessing and supporting learners in the clinical setting
- Able to initiate and organise own workload
- Ability to work within an immediate team as well as the wider education development team
- Experience of teaching and assessing learners with different abilities and experiences
- Ability to be flexible in the role of Clinical Education Facilitator to meet the needs of the service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- IT literate to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
