The job entails working in a busy work environment assisting with food preparation, taking temperatures, cleaning all crockery, disposing of waste, using industrial equipment, reporting faults and dealing with customer complaints. The successful applicant must have the ability to work alone and to work effectively as part of a team This is a large area to work in and is a physically demanding job and you will be on your feet for most of the shift and must be able to work in both hot and cold environments. The employee will also have the responsibility to follow all aspects of Food Safety, Allergen Laws and HACCP controls, this including the logging of hot and cold temperatures and that of fridges and freezers. Full flexibility is required with this role for the covering at short notice of annual leave and sickness
The Supervisor on duty will provide indirect supervision to the postholder on a daily basis and will be available for reference.
The Facilities Coordinator (Catering and Food Safety Compliance) will provide guidance on non routine tasks required of the Catering Assistants on a daily basis.
In liaison with the Facilities Coordinator, Supervisor on duty will be responsible for setting and reviewing the workload of the Catering Assistant on an on-going basis.
The Catering Assistant will organise their own daily work-plan, prioritising and reorganising workload in response to service demands.
