The Centre for the Study of Islam in the UK, based in the School of History, Archaeology and Religion, wishes to appoint a Social Media and Impact Officer. The postholder will lead on the design, delivery, and evaluation of communications about Islam-UK Centre activities and research via social media and other communications channels. They will also lead on supporting the evaluation and promotion of research impact within the Centre and the broad field of British Muslim Studies. They will also work closely with Centre colleagues and other relevant University staff.
- This post is part-time (17.5 hours per week), fixed-term and available for an immediate start.**Salary**: £39,347 - £44,263 per annum, pro-rata for hours worked (Grade 6). New appointments are usually made at the bottom of the salary scale.-

**Job Purpose**

Support the University within the area of social media and research impact in the field of British Muslim Studies carrying out supporting work, providing advice, guidance and support, and leading projects within this area.**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Key Duties**
- Provide professional advice and guidance on the creation, development, and evaluation of engaging social media and public impact in the field of British Muslim Studies with particular reference to the activities of the Islam-UK Centre,
- Create original high quality online content, for use across the University’s social media platforms, and to make appropriate use of pre-existing video/AV material.
- Development of processes and procedures to internal and external customers that will have institute wide impacts, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that trends and data from social media and impact relating to the work of the Islam-UK Centre are fed back to the staff team as appropriate, helping to improve decision-making and planning.
- Proactively advise on changes to delivery and content according to feedback and/or trends in social media or impact.
- Respond in a timely and accurate fashion to queries raised via Islam-UK Centre social media channels.
- Take responsibility for resolving issues independently in relation to social media/impact, specifically in the field of British Muslim Studies, where they fall within set role objectives
- Investigate and analyse specific issues within the field of British Muslim Studies and the work of the Islam-UK Centre in particular, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within the field of British Muslim Studies.
- Ensure that the provision of specialist advice in relation to social media/impact in the field of British Muslim Studies is delivered to the institution, proactively changing the delivery according to customer requirements
- Establish working relationships with key contacts, developing appropriate communication links with outside bodies as required, with particular reference to those related to the research and activities in the Islam-UK Centre.
- Investigate and report on the impact of Centre activities to external organisations and communities and negotiating with external stakeholders to obtain evidence to that effect.
- Plan and deliver specific small-scale projects, co-ordinating and supervising project teams created as needed, with particular reference to evaluation of the REF21 Impact Case Study Database in order to identify and prepare a report on ‘good practice’ in relation to impact and public engagement in the field of British Muslim Studies.
- Take responsibility for the design and publication of a ‘British Muslim Studies Research Bulletin’.
- Develop and deliver training that will help the Islam-UK Centre staff team to utilise social media effectively, and create impact in their research
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the Islam-UK Centre where required
- Instruct, guide, and liaise with other employees across the University with particular reference to those working in communications, public engagement and civic mission
