**Job Title: Midday Supervisor**

**Location: Petteril Bank School, Burnett Road, Carlisle CA1 3BX**

**Hours: 6hrs and 15mins per week Mon
- Fri 11.45-13.00**

**Rate of Pay: £10.47 per hour (Pay award pending April 2024)**

**PURPOSE OF ROLE**:
To assist other Midday Supervisors / Headteacher in managing the safety and welfare of pupils during the midday break. To effectively supervise pupils in and around the school (which may include working one-to-one with a child, or children, with Special Educational Needs (SEN)), by building great relationships and delivering an excellent service at all times.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Ensuring the supervision of pupils at appropriate times and organising the effective transfer of responsibilities for pupils’ welfare between midday supervisory colleagues and teachers
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and following relevant child protection procedures
- Actively promote the school meals service to pupils to increase awareness of healthy eating and the uptake of healthy school meals
- Deal with minor problems, and infringements of disciplinary rules, swiftly and effectively, reporting persistent unruly behaviour or more serious breaches of discipline to a senior member of the teaching team by the relevant process
- Liaising with kitchen/dining-room colleagues to ensure smooth meal service, which may include assisting with the collection of meal tickets
- Supervising and assisting pupils with their food where appropriate
- Supporting any school policies regarding meals provision
- Setting up and clearing away tables in the dining room if required
- Assisting where necessary in ensuring that any persons on the premises who are not pupils or site colleagues, are authorised and appropriately dealt with (in accordance with guidance issued from time to time)

**Health, Safety and Environment**
- Deal with minor accidents, and secure first aid assistance for these, and handle any serious incidents in accordance with the procedure established at the school
- Ensuring that health and safety practices and procedures affecting pupils are maintained during the midday break
- Act responsibly in relation to all matters which may affect the Health and Safety of yourselves and others whilst on Company premises, customers’ premises and travelling between sites, and to adhere to safety regulations at all times
- Observe all safety procedures and instructions and assist in maintaining a safe workplace and reporting any accidents, hazards, near misses, damages or defects to tools and equipment to the appropriate person
- Wear appropriate protective equipment (PPE) and use any safety devices provided by the company at the relevant times
- Report (and deal with, where relevant) any incidents, accidents, defects, safety hazards or other Health & Safety problems immediately, to the appropriate person

**Qualifications & Experience**:
Essential: Previous experience in a Midday Supervisor type role

Ability to supervise children appropriately & develop trusting relationships

Desirable: Experience in supporting with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

First Aid certification

Food Hygiene Certificate

Child Protection Certification
