The hours are work-life balance friendly - Monday to Friday, 8.30-17.00 and you will have weekends and Bank Holidays off, with no on-call commitment. We do have some overtime available, but this is organised on a voluntary basis and according to service need. The Breast Imaging Department is based at The Park Centre for Breast Care (PCBC) which is opposite Preston Park on Preston Road, Brighton, 3 miles away from the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) site and 13 miles from the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) site in Haywards Heath.Our friendly team consists of radiologists, breast care clinicians, screening nurse, mammographers, assistant practitioners, radiographic and health care assistants. Clinical Maintain the patients respect, dignity and privacy, and to act with kindness and courtesy to all members of the public Work on mobile units and the Assessment Centres with both screening and Symptomatic women To achieve and maintain a high standard of radiographic technique in both screening and symptomatic services and to work to current national standards and local protocols To assess patients emotional and physical needs to gain accurate relevant clinical history within limited time constraints whilst at the same time explaining the procedure and establishing consent to examination To be responsible for meeting the needs of all patients including those with disabilities whilst maintaining high radiographic standards Be prepared to deal with immobile patients that need moderate to high effort positioning or moving but to keep within the manual handling guidelines Undertake the imaging of tissue samples from theatres, pathology or interventional procedures Adhere to the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 (IRMER), Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 (IRR99), Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (HASAW) and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002 (COSHH) and NHSBSP Guidelines Report all equipment faults on the appropriate form and ensure the Superintendent Radiographer is informed. To liaise with service companies to report faults Assist in training of assistant practitioners and other junior, non qualified radiographic and medical staff To act in a supervisory role for fully qualified assistant practitioners To carry out daily quality assurances (QA) tests and act accordingly in conjunction with the NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) QA guidelines and local protocols To assist radiologist and specialist practitioners during ultrasound and X-ray guided interventional procedures Please see Job Description & Person Specification for full details.
