We’re looking for 2 Facilitators to deliver our suite of mental health programmes to children, young people and their supporting adults across Oxfordshire. There may also be opportunities to develop new programmes and materials. We’re looking for an **Expert by Training **Facilitator, drawing on professional expertise, to work in partnership with our existing Expert by Experience who has lived experience of their own to draw on.

**About Discovery College**

We’re a small youth mental health charity with big ideas, drawing from the international Discovery College model to create something new and innovative. We support children and young people with their mental health and wellbeing by helping them to learn about what’s happening to them. They share experiences and develop skills and tools to stay well, and we support the adults around them to better understand too. We’re all about peer learning - nothing clinical, no talking therapies, just exploring and finding ways to manage together. All of our programmes are co-produced - this means that they’re designed and delivered by both people with professional expertise and people with lived experience of mental health problems or of being a carer.

**About the role**

As one of our core Facilitators you’ll play a key role in expanding our reach across the county and bringing vital mental health support to children and young people. You will be jointly responsible for recruiting participants, delivering sessions, and compiling evaluation data. If we identify a need for a new programme to be developed, there may also be the opportunity to co-produce new interactive and engaging programme content.

**Specifics of the role**:

- Deliver our suite of programmes on a rolling basis throughout the year, facilitating powerful learning experiences and peer support opportunities.
- Work with local partners to advertise programmes and recruit participants, ensure group needs are met, and student support runs smoothly.
- Be a trusted adult for participants, developing good working relationships, actively listening, and helping them to get the most from their programme experience.
- Carry out administration tasks related to programme planning and delivery, including filing consent forms and ordering resources.
- Implement our evaluation process to gather impact data and feedback to meet reporting requirements and inform future development.
- Where appropriate and comfortable, to share parts of your own lived experience and recovery journey, as a lived experience role model.
- Work closely with the Coordinator and CEO to ensure that work is delivered in line with funder’s expectations and the Discovery College model and vision.
- Adhere to and work within relevant policies, processes and procedures of Oxfordshire Discovery College.
- Engage in regular supervision and professional development opportunities.
- Uphold the values and ethos of the Discovery College in all aspects of the work.

**Person Specification**

We’re looking for a Programme Facilitator who can work closely with our existing Expert-by-Experience Facilitator to draw upon a combination of lived experience and professional expertise. The Expert-by-Training Facilitator will have professional expertise in a relevant field such as youth work, clinical, or therapeutic work. Our dream Facilitator will be passionate about empowering young people, knowledgeable about mental health, and will be able to build rapport quickly and collaborate well.

**Essential Criteria**
- Good understanding and knowledge of mental health and wellbeing in young people
- Professional expertise in a relevant field, eg: art therapy, teaching, sports coaching, counselling
- Relevant qualifications (eg: clinical psychology, counselling, youth work, sports coaching, teaching)
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and listening skills
- Ability to be assertive, engaging and co-facilitate a small group of young people
- Empathetic, with fantastic ability to build good working relationships with participants and partners
- Commitment to principles of recovery and wellbeing
- Ability to model maintenance of wellbeing and, where relevant, demonstrate being in a place of recovery
- Good computer literacy
- Ability to work under own initiative and manage your workload
