**Job Summary**

As a trainee Service Charge Accountant, you will assist with the preparation of Client Service Charge Accounts, query resolution, preparing accounting data for external accountants, and analysing handover information. Your role will involve assisting in the day-to-day activities in the Service Charge Team and you will be supported by the organisation through training to complete the following duties:

- Preparation of Client Service Charge Accounts within deadlines and in accordance with industry regulations.
- Preparation of Client Reports within SLA deadlines.
- To file statutory returns with Companies House.
- Query resolution.
- Preparing accounting data for external accountants.
- Analysing handover information.

**Responsibilities & Duties**

This is varied role which will be responsible for all aspects of service charge including but not limited to:

- Reviewing and processing movements of expenditures between Cost Centres
- Reviewing and processing prepayments and accruals at Service Charge Year End Reconciliation
- Auditing income for the year ensuring leaseholders have been charged correctly
- Preparing service charge calculations including balance sheet reconciliation and detailed analysis of P&L accounts
- Posting deficit/surplus for the year and issuing demands
- Issuing Section 20b where applicable
- Ensuring Information provided by external agents is accurate and ensuring income and expenditure is correctly recorded within data system.
- Ensuring the filing system for financial data is both accurate and orderly.
- Working as part of a team to support the manager and property accounting side.
- Preparing monthly and or quarterly reporting
- Answering financial / administrative questions.
- Processing property standing information onto the company's data system.
- Preparing financial information for the processing of sales / acquisition of property.
- Establish and maintaining relationships with key clients and external accountants.
- Preparation of service charge accounts and client reports for key client and complex sites.
- Maintaining excellent communication with the other business departments.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Natural attention to detail with strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work to deadlines is essential.
- Self-motivated and proactive thinking
- Team player able to work under pressure and multi task.
- An understanding of accounting terminology

**Desired**
- Strong interpersonal and communicative skills are essential for this role
- A professional accountancy qualification (AAT or A-Level Accountancy) would be advantageous.
- Excellent Excel skills
- Ability to adapt to new IT systems
