We are actively recruiting for a Senior Social Worker within the Joint Child Protection Investigation Team (JCPIT) in Children’s Services. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a team co-located with police and based at the Police headquarters in Hatfield.
**The role**
The role of a Senior Social Worker is to work with the Police to support families where children are at risk of significant harm, endeavouring to bring cases to a satisfactory conclusion, whilst working within the scope of relevant legislation i.e., Section 47/17.
You will hold a caseload and respond to urgent situations requiring immediate attention and conclusion.
You will join an existing team made up of Consultant Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, Childrens Practitioners, Child Advice Information Officers (CAIO) and Business Support
To increase the skills of front-line Social Worker Teams to rise to the challenges of the Munro Report and Family Justice Review. This role will hold a caseload of complex cases equating to approximately 25 cases on a full caseload.
The role will be required to work occasional evenings to meet service requirements and service user needs.
**About you**
- Qualified and registered Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience.
- Ability to handle urgent and often difficult situations, whilst always remaining calm and impartial.
- Driven by leading by example and embedding best practice where children’s safeguarding is concerned.
- Working closely with internal and external parties (Police, Schools, Health professionals and families) you will be comfortable and confident communicating with a wide variety of individuals.
- Must be flexible and willing to work outside of office hours (including evenings, weekends, and public holidays) where needed.
