Our specialist departments, including HR, finance, technology, strategy and performance, estates, and marketing, work alongside dedicated school improvement teams. **The Role**:
To support the Head of Internal Audit in the delivery of the risk-based Internal Audit plan and ad-hoc consultancy projects. The role will involve undertaking central office and school audits and will include planning, fieldwork and report writing. The role will include travel to schools and other United Learning offices ensuring that controls are in place and operating effectively.

You will be based at the Peterborough office for two days per week with remote working for remainder of the week. We are open to discussing flexible working options.

**Responsibilities**:
As an Internal Auditor this role will require regular travel to schools and central office hubs to undertake audits. Travel can normally be conducted within a day, with occasional overnight stays. The role will be responsible for undertaking financial and operational audits at school and central office locations, as directed by the Head of Internal Audit and will also be responsible for following up on the implementation of audit actions and managing the audit action follow up process.

**Main responsibilities include**:

- Contributing to the planning and delivery of audit assignments (in accordance with our audit methodology and standards).
- Undertaking audit fieldwork as directed - ensuring that controls are in place and verifying information.
- Completing assigned work to a high and professional standard.
- Communicating effectively with the Head of Internal Audit to ensure visibility of issues and progress of assigned work.
- Following up on audit actions/recommendations made and provide status updates to the Head of Internal Audit.
- Responsible for monitoring open audit actions, issuing updates to central office and schools and collating management information for the Head of Internal Audit.
- Manage own time and ensure work allocated is delivered on time and in budget.
- Assisting in the production, collation and distribution of audit reports, KPI information and progress reports.
- Assist with investigations and ad hoc consultancy projects as required.

**About You**:
You will be qualified or working towards a recognised professional auditing or accountancy qualification e.g. CMIIA, CIA or a CCAB qualification and have experience in an internal or external audit role.

You will:

- Have a working knowledge of risk based internal audit techniques.
- Be a team player - liaising with Central Office and School teams.
- Be a good organiser - with skills including the ability to multi-task, and excellent attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and able to build good working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
- Be a first rate negotiator - using influencing skills to gain commitment and agreement to audit recommendations.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Be a self-motivator with an appetite and commitment to learn.
