You’ll be delivering against a planned communications strategy to engage NPL externally in a thoughtful, clear and engaging way to enhance our brand. You will be responsible for managing relevant stakeholder engagement schemes and programmes and support in the exchange of knowledge and expertise between NPL and stakeholder organisations.

We are now working in a hybrid way, with a mix of remote and office working. As our Communications Specialist, within our Corporate Communications team, you’ll focus on communicating our cutting-edge science and engineering across a variety of channels to both external and internal audiences. Day-to-day you will be working alongside communications professionals as well as scientists and engineers from across the organisation to raise awareness of what we do.

You’ll plan and manage the delivery of a wide range of communication projects, engage with colleagues across the organisation, and create interesting and engaging content that presents our work to our customers and stakeholders, raising our profile and increasing our engagement with our key audiences. You will organise stakeholder events, liaising with the relevant stakeholders and colleagues to ensure a successful outcome. You will ensure that everything is delivered to the highest quality, within cost and to deadline. You will work closely with colleagues across the Marketing and Communications team, who work across PR, events, campaigns and the website to deliver integrated internal and external communication campaigns and programmes. You will be an integral part of communicating our brand and brand programme, working on communications projects that enhance us in the external marketplace.

With a background in corporate communications, you have plenty of creative flair and the drive to get things done. Good organisation skills, meticulous attention to detail and a commercial awareness are all must-haves. You also need excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong copywriting and editing skills. Experience of working within a science, engineering or technology would be an advantage, and you will need to demonstrate a keen interest in science and engineering.
