**An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Medical Secretary to join our busy and dynamic team in Clinical Administration based at Rochdale Infirmary supporting various specialities within the service.**
- You will be highly motivated and committed to providing high quality administrative and medical audio typing support to the clinical teams.**Main duties of the job**:

- You will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and RSA III typing or equivalent typing experience.- Knowledge of medical terminology would be desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.- As the role involves dealing with the public and healthcare professionals you must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, and will have a flexible and professional approach.- You will be able to organise and prioritise your own workload in order to meet our transcription targets.**Working for our organisation**:

**Essential criteria**:

- Word processing - Qualified to RSA III/NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification/demonstrable skills (60+ wpm at 98% accuracy

**Desirable criteria**:

- AMSPAR Medical Secretarial Diploma
- ECDL or equivalent qualification
- City and Guilds Certificate in Medical Terminology, or equivalent demonstrable skills/experience

**Knowledge/Skills/Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Experience of using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook
- Experience of successfully working within tight time frames and to deadlines
- Experience of audio typing

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of providing secretarial services in a hospital environment
- Experience of using digital dictation systems
- Experience of medical audio typing

**Skills**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Advanced keyboard skills
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Proven organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload with interruptions and changing priorities
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Good command and understanding of English, punctuation and grammar

- Understanding of data protection
