The Cardiac Department, based in the QEH Medicine Directorate at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and provides a clinical service on two major Hospital sites - Eltham Community Hosital, and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Greenwich.

To start the role will provide full administrative support for the cardio-respiratory community diagnostic centre but will ultimately become the cardiology administrator for the Eltham Community Diagnostic service, supporting the Senior Chief Physiologists, providing the following:
Diary management, general administration tasks, booking rooms/clinics, training of other A&C colleagues with a focus on community diagnostics. There may be occasions whereby the reception at QEH will need covering as well

Acts as lead user for ICare and department PAS system (SOLUS) including training of staff and working with Senior Chief Physiologist to ensure appropriate clinics are built and maintained and data is entered into all required areas appropriately and completely.

Oversees the management of the cardiac diagnostics appointments on Icare and SOLUS, liaising with the Senior Chief Technicians

To act as the administrator for the community diagnostic cnetre
- including preparing notes where required, making follow up appointments and ensuring all end of day functions are complete, to include closing clinics and completing check in and check out functions on SOLUS.

To act independently ensuring that daily tasks and ongoing workloads are prioritised and completed in agreed timeframes. The post holder will be based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich and will initially support the booking of respiratory diagnostics at the CDC as well.

Our staff culture change programme has been key to the Trust’s improvement journey, as we’ve stabilised our workforce by reducing vacancy rates and improving staff retention. We’ve also significantly increased the representation of minority ethnic leaders across our clinical and corporate teams.

To provide administrative support to the Community Diagnostic centre as follows;
- To be responsible for the supervision of the administrative and clerical team working within the cardiac department to include staff providing support for Direct Access Diagnostic service
- Acts as lead user for ICare and department PAS system (SOLUS) including training of staff and working with Senior Chief Physiologist to ensure appropriate clinics are built and maintained and data is entered into all required areas appropriately and completely.
- To supervise volunteer workers and ensure health & safety policies are adhered to.
- To participate in an assessment or undertake panel member role during selection process of new clerical/secretarial staff.
- Ensure that the reception desk is covered at all times between 9am and 5pm including both telephones
- Ensures the well-being of patients delayed in waiting area; requesting refreshments for delayed patients, resolving any parking issues etc.
- To oversee the management of cardiac diagnostic appointments on ICare and SOLUS and liaise with the Senior Chief Technicians.
- To administrate the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic ensuring referrals are triaged by the specialist nurses, 2 week rule is achieved, appointments booked and sent, notes prepped and all appropriate letters sent. Flags capacity issues to senior clinical staff when the 2 week target cannot be achieved.
- To act as clinic receptionist for general and specialist cardiology clinics within the department
- including preparing notes, making follow up appointments and ensuring all end of day functions are complete, to include closing clinics and completing check in and check out functions in both I care and SOLUS.
- Deals with patient complaints in a face to face capacity as they arise within the department. Defuses complaints if possible, negotiates solutions or escalates to senior clinical or management staff if no acceptable outcome can be reached. Documents such conversations in a suitable format
- Facilitates smooth patient journey to achieve best possible outcomes for patients
