**Role**

You will be part of the engineering leadership team taking personal and functional responsibility for the delivery of cutting-edge electromechanical designs and products. Leading a small team of engineers and technicians, you will be responsible for developingcost-effective solutions that meet requirements as set out the by the business. You will be responsible for translating customer requirements from initial request, through sampling and approval to volume production implementation in a design for manufactureenvironment.

You will be expected to manage your own workload, monitoring and providing feedback on your team’s progress whilst proactively communicating exceptions to these timescales and related project plans as necessary. Coordinating with the development, quality,manufacturing and commercial functions of the business you will translate product specifications into working prototypes prior to internal or external customer approval.

**Goal**

You should manage the necessary resources providing clear, concise and regular progress updates to the business and commit to the implementation of a zero tolerance approach to defective quality and non-conformance.

**Objectives**
- Manage a small team of engineers and technicians whilst working with cross-functional technical teams
- Work with the technical teams to develop hardware, perform calculations, simulations and tests to deliver robust, innovative designs that meet customer requirements
- Construct and evaluate test samples in conjunction with the technical teams
- Ensure legislative documentation, reports and declarations are produced and maintained for demonstration of product compliance to relevant directives
- Ensure timely completion of project activity, monitoring and reporting progress
- Understand product performance principles, identifying key specification issues
- Supervise, train and mentor junior staff
- Gain technical familiarity with relevant product Directives and Standards supporting

products
- Support and work with MJS and SA to ensure that effective, safe working practices are maintained in the engineering laboratory, taking responsibility for consumable administration within the mechanical laboratory
- Work collaboratively with the technical teams to develop hardware solutions, performing relevant calculations, associated simulations and tests to deliver designs to CTR requirements
- Understand product performance principles, identifying key specification issues and performance criteria to develop, demonstrate and carry out functionality tests
- Construct and evaluate test samples in conjunction with the technical teams
- Ensure timely completion of assigned CTRs and tasks
- Understand and comply with the requirements of ISO 5801 for air performance testing

**Skills & Knowledge**
- Minimum 2:1 Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related field
- 5 years’ + previous experience in similar role
- Ability to use 2D&3D CAD tools at component part and product design level
- Familiarity with electrical and electronic control principles in an electromechanical environment
- Familiarity with turbomachinery, rotating machine concepts, dynamics and fluid mechanics
- A working knowledge of the principles of vibration and acoustics - desirable
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and prioritise
