As an Assistant Merchandiser, you will work closely with the Buyer and the Head of Retail and will be
responsible for overseeing the management of stock for Retail stores and an online shop, forecasting
stock and balancing stock investment with optimal availability. You will monitor warehouse inventory
reports and the sales performances of products, ensuring financial margins are met.

**Description**
- Reporting sales performance of ranges weekly to analyse performance across all product areas
highlighting best and poor sales performance at line level for all channels
- Provide detailed analysis on product/supplier/category performance monthly
- Perform sales, profit and gap analysis to support buying decisions and make optimal use of space
- Prepare sales, stock, profit and trend forecasts to assist the creation of purchasing plans.
- Analyses of price point sales to determine the best balance for categories and products
- Analyses of sales trends for various outlets - key price points, product grounds, animal sales
breakdown etc
- Forecast and react to sales performance, proposing appropriate actions to maximise sales and
profit e.g. re-phasing deliveries & re-buying bespoke stock
- Responsible for multi-channel stock management including setting up stock systems for online
shop and upsells
- Track inventory levels and manage stock availability ensuring stock levels meet demand within
required budget.
- Manage the weekly ordering & intake of stock to achieve planned stock targets; call off stock
where appropriate to maximise sales & availability
- Support the buying and operations team in ensuring optimal stock levels within the organisation
are correctly attributed to each shop/channel
- Understand product lead times & sourcing / manufacturing issues that may affect supply

**Profile**
- At least 18 months experience working in stock
control, making ordering decisions
and an advanced working knowledge of Excel
Experience in retail environment
- Exceptional planning and organisation skills with
excellent attention to detail
- Articulate with excellent communication skills
- Highly numerate and analytical, competent
working with large volumes of data, using this to
make informed decisions
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise and ensure
deadlines are met; understands when to escalate
issues
- Self-motivated and capable of working
independently on multiple projects with strict
deadlines
- Commercially minded and able to identify
opportunities and risks across the business
- An effective problem solver who can combine
analytical capabilities and creative thinking to
generate solutions
- Commercially astute with an understanding of
customer profile, product range and competitors
- Actively promotes and champions change; is
flexible, adaptable and able to make decisions to
meet changing business needs
- Ability to work well within a small team and on
own initiative and builds and maintains positive
relationships
