Floating Support Worker

Join our team at Norman Galloway Homes as a **Floating Support Worker** We support _**care leavers**_ aged 16+ through various accommodation and job programmes around Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
We are seeking full-time contracted staff and part-time bank staff that will be on zero-hour positions, all available with competitive remuneration.
We pay £13.50 per hour including holiday pay for bank staff roles (Zero Hour) and between £22,308.00-£26,325.00 per year for full-time roles.

This is an exciting time to join a not-for-profit and expanding service for _**care leavers**_. We are planning to provide a seven-day cover. **Willingness to work the occasional weekend as the service demands or as per rota is crucial.**
**Essential Requirements**:
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with _**care leavers**_ or a related group in the United Kingdom.
- Respect for the individual and their uniqueness.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- An understanding of safeguarding principles.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of young people and the business (core hours are 9-5, but you may be required to work from 8-8).
- Ability to use IT and write up records.
- Ability to think creatively.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
**Desirable Requirements**:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding regulations.
- Knowledge and understanding of the UK's care leaver system for under 18's
- Knowledge of rights of care leavers post-18
- An understanding of the types of placements a young person in care may have experienced
- A willingness to learn and implement our way of supporting young care leavers.
- Minimum of GCSE education
As a Support Worker, you will:
- Provide practical and emotional support to enable _**care leavers**_ to develop independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, and cleaning.
- Support _**care leavers**_ in identifying employment, education, and training needs and help them access relevant opportunities according to their support plan.
- Deliver training and workshops on independent living skills and job readiness, providing ongoing coaching and support to care leavers participating in the jobs programme.
- Work closely with our Business Support Team to ensure _**care leavers**_ receive appropriate support.
- Advocate for _**care leavers**_ to ensure their needs are met and assist them in navigating complex systems such as benefits and housing.
- Support _**care leavers **_in any social services reviews
- Be required to have house meetings with all residents to address any property or relationship issues.

**Shifts**:
We operate support 24 hours a day currently and have a mixture of shifts available; including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts.
We try to be flexible with shifts.
Our core floating supporting hours are 9-5 Monday to Friday, however, to support our young people, this can include hours between 8.00 am and 8.00pm.
