The North East Regional Organised Crime Unit is one of ten Regional Organised Crime Units (“ROCU”) in England and Wales who lead the regional response to tackling serious and organised crime whilst supporting local and national delivery. The ROCU network continues to expand and Home Office funding through police officer uplift and increased police staff capacity presents exciting opportunities to further enhance service delivery and positively impact on our partners and the public. The Home Office Serious and Organised Crime Strategy defines ROCU as leading the regional fight against Serious and Organised Crime and NEROCU have a critical role in leading, connecting and co-ordinating delivery across our region in all four P’s of the strategy;Pursue - prosecuting and disrupting people engaged in serious and organised criminality.Prevent - preventing people from engaging in serious and organised criminality.Protect - increasing protection against organised crime.Prepare - reducing the impact of serious and organised crime where it takes place. NEROCU comprises of specialist teams delivering across intelligence, operations, investigations, cyber, economic, technical and digital capabilities.

**The role**:
This is an exciting and unique role, where you will gain first-hand experience of Serious and Organised Crime. Leading, managing, developing and supporting a team of highly trained financial investigators responsible for disrupting Serious and Organised Crime (SOC) and removing assets under criminal and civil law including The Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).This role contributes to the vigorous pursuit of organised crime groups in work which safeguards and protects vulnerable members of our communities in the Northeast Region. We are looking for individuals who are methodical, tenacious, and able to demonstrate an ability to manage the casework of a financial investigation team providing legislative and investigative guidance and direction.

**What will I be doing?**
- ing knowledge of financial investigations, keep the unit head appraised of the progress of cases and provide specialist technical and professional advice and guidance to colleagues, other departments, and partners.
- Managing a team of Financial Investigators, allocating and checking work prior to submission to HMCTS, SIO/OIC’s and CPS. Effectively manage workloads and demand across the team.
- Responsible for receiving work requests from agencies including HMCTS, evaluating against force priorities and undertaking a risk assessment prior to delegation to the team. Quality check work prior to submission to partners which may include overseeing evidence which may be presented in court.
- Manage and develop a team of Financial Investigators (both police officers and staff), ensuring all training and CPD requirements are met. Manage all aspects of performance, development, and support for the team.
- Be the department Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide technical and strategic advice in relation to financial investigations and asset recovery to heads of department, SIO’s and OIC’s

**What do I need?**

Essential:

- Experience of managing teams.
- To be a Qualified Financial Investigator and Confiscator.
- Qualified Financial Investigator tutor. Able to prioritise own work and work of others within the team against deadlines.
- Proven track record of solving complicate and technical problems.
- An excellent communicator in both written and verbal.
- Able to represent the force at a regional and national level while demonstrating outstanding knowledge in relation to financial investigations.
- Must have extensive knowledge and be able to demonstrate through PDP they are an accredited Financial Investigator with Confiscation and have undertaken regular CPD.
