Specialists in providing engineered above ground drainage and water supply systems, **Polypipe Building Services **leverages offsite fabrication to design and deliver solutions to mechanical and public health engineers, M&E contractors as well as local authorities. Polypipe Building Services houses well-known industry brand Terrain and has been delivering systems to commercial, high rise residential, healthcare, education and leisure projects for over 50 years.
**Role**:In conjunction with the Site HSE Manager, the individual will be responsible for improving the HSE culture, implementing Group HSE policies, managing HSE systems, driving behavioural change and improving employee competence.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for understanding the main requirements of the health and safety and environmental and legislation applicable to the company
- Support the Site Management Team in fulfilling their responsibilities for HSE on site**:advise and assist as necessary
- Implement Group Health and Safety, and Environmental, Policy and procedures on site
- Joint investigation of accidents/incidents with line management and employees.
- Carry out in-depth investigations for more serious accidents or environmental incidents, and ensure that appropriate action is taken to prevent recurrence
- Ensure all accident data and supporting documentation is logged; maintain the accident database, produce accident statistics and undertaken trend analysis
- Consult and communication with the workforce on HSE matters via workgroups and other consultation forums
- Organise and develop HSE projects, in line with Group Policy and Key Performance indicators
- Manage and organise HSE training; maintain an HSE training matrix
- Oversee the issue of Permits to Work and control of contractors on site
- Liaise with suppliers and place orders and requisitions where appropriate, ensuring relevant safety standards are met.
- Manage on-site COSHH compliance requirements including maintaining up to date register of substances, access to Material Safety Data Sheets and suitable risk assessments
- Advance and promote a health and safety culture and in the workplace
- Advance and promote environmental awareness in the workplace
- Ensure that all tasks have a suitable and sufficient risk assessment, and written safe systems of work (SSW), and that all employees are trained in the relevant SSW’s
- Ensure that Level 1 and Level 2 Audits are undertaken.
- Assist in Auditing programmes, including internal and external audits
- Deputise in the absence of the Site HSE Manager on Safety and Environmental matters
- Maintain all records and files as required
**Requirements**:
- In depth knowledge and understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental legislation
- Working in a fast pace manufacturing environment
- Ability to lead and drive change and improvements
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Full driving licence.
- Computer Literate - Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Possess the initiative to develop the role with a passionate approach
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Qualified to NEBOSH Certificate (NEBOSH Diploma Part II level or equivalent preferred)
- AIEMA professional training
- Competent in all aspects of inspections within scope applicable to the role
- Competent in auditing
- Competent in accurately recording results of all inspections, checks and audits in clear legible manner consistent with the requirements of the respective standard.
- Computer literate - working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word and Excel
- Ability to understand pertinent legislation and relate to company business/processes
