If you are, East Sussex Youth Justice Service is looking to recruit a youth justice practitioner who has substantial experience of working directly with children and young people in a criminal justice setting with a detailed working knowledge of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and other criminal justice legislation.

The East Sussex Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency team whose overall aim is to prevent the risk of offending and re-offending by children and young people, improving their outcomes and delivering high quality practice. The role of Youth Justice Practitioner includes the delivery of individual and group work sessions, to challenge, motivate and engage children and young people to comply with out of court disposals and statutory court orders. Key qualities you need to possess include being able to ensure case recording is timely and accurate, ability to work with key partners to improve public protection, safeguard the needs of children and young people and assist in the reduction of youth offending in East Sussex.

You need to be a creative thinker, self-motivated, flexible and pragmatic person. You will supervise cases and manage risk in line with national standards and develop high quality intervention plans based on reflective assessments. You’ll need to be hands-on and possess good communication and motivation skills to deliver the best outcomes for children and young people.
