You will provide public health leadership, advice and support to internal and external stakeholders relevant to the function and you will play a critical role in delivering the Healthcare Public Health Directorate business plan.
You will be part of the Senior Leadership Team of the Healthcare Public Health Directorate.

The postholder will oversee, coordinate and deliver high quality professional public health input, support and advice to NHS England at regional and system level to drive improvements in outcomes and reduction in health inequalities across the population in a way that is cost effective and prioritises prevention.

Alongside colleagues in the team, they will be responsible for the:

- Overall strategy for improving population health at a regional level, including prevention and a focus on inequalities in all programmes
- Quality and efficiency of public health programmes including regional implementation of national workstreams across primary, secondary, and tertiary health services and care

You will identify future challenges to public health and wellbeing and act as a professional advisor for NHSE/I on all matters related to HCPH, working effectively across directorates, OHID, UKHSA and ICS teams, in supporting the NSHE to lead on prevention, health inequalities and population health.

As a Consultant in HealthCare Public Health the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the HCPH team in the North West of England.

You will be required to provide both line management to team members and training for speciality registrars in public health.

Secondments
Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only,

Salary progression
Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8d with a full-time starting salary of £83,571 with a pay step increase after 5 years’ service.
