**Job description**

The Internal Content Editor in Chief is an exciting new role within Internal Communications which will focus on driving, developing and quality assuring both written and visual content for our 65,000 colleagues across our internal channels.

The Internal Planning and Content team sit within Internal Communications and are responsible for delivering high-profile, high-quality communications content to all HMRC colleagues across our internal digital channels. They are specialist advisers to stakeholders on the most effective communications approach, making sure time poor colleagues are able to find the information they need to support their work and wellbeing quickly and easily.

Planning and insight play an integral part in supporting the Planning and Content team in delivering simple, engaging and high-quality communications that connect colleagues to our strategic priorities, help them do their jobs well and make them feel trusted, supported, respected and confident in their role.

There will be opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across internal communications, working closely with business partners from the 12 operational groups and the regional communications team to ensure content on our internal channels is aligned to HMRC and communications priorities.

You will work with colleagues within the Internal Planning and Content team and across Internal Communications - role modelling leadership within HMRC Communications.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Be responsible for the day-to-day planning, delivery and quality assurance of all internal corporate content produced and published - making sure it is engaging and relevant.
- Work with the wider internal content team to generate and drive delivery of original and creative ideas that will cut through with our colleagues.
- Plan and oversee all content published to the intranet homepage to ensure that it’s in line with our HMRC and Communications priorities.
- Use editorial judgement to make sure communications are consistent, inclusive and accessible in their style and tone.
- Work closely with internal communicators (in our regional and business groups) to make sure that corporate content reflects and is reflected in their activity, ensuring we tell a consistent story to our colleagues at all levels.
- Use your understanding of insight and evaluation to shape content and advise others.
- Be an active member of the leadership team within the Internal Planning and Content team with potential line management responsibilities.

**Essential Criteria**
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Track record of delivering evidence-based high quality communications across multi-channel platforms with demonstrable impact on organisational outcomes.
- Experience in using evaluation and audience insight to drive real change and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrable influencing skills and excellent stakeholder management
- Demonstrable experience of quality assuring content: setting and overseeing high standards, knowledge of accessibility guidelines, with strong proofreading and sub-editing skills
- Experience of leadership, preferably within a large, complex organisation

**Desirable Criteria**
- Internal communications experience - including campaign delivery.
- Familiarity with the planning and evaluation of campaigns or projects and using lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with video production and content design.
