**sedcat CUSTOMER SERVICES ASSISTANT- JOB SHARE**

**Accountable to**: The Board of Trustees, **sedcat**

**Line Manager**: Chief Officer

**Remuneration**: £10.21 ph (to be increased in April 2023)

**Hours**: **12-16** hours per week; Mon - Friday. Flexible job share to provide adequate cover during service hours 9am - 3pm; the applicant will also be required to cover holiday and sickness when required.

Location: Working from Castlepoint Shopmobility Unit. Castlepoint Shopping Centre, Bournemouth, BH8 9XA

**sedcat **is a charityproviding a range of community transport options to support people living independently in the community, helping to prevent social isolation and loneliness.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**We are looking for someone to job share with another part time member of staff to ensure adequate admin cover during service hours. The post currently involves taking telephone bookings for all our services and hiring out mobility equipment.**

**Main duties**
- Answer calls promptly and take telephone bookings for all **Sedcat** services including Minibus services, Community Car and Hospital Hop and input bookings onto the Sedcat database.
- To match clients with available drivers for all **Sedcat** services including Minibus services, Community Car and Hospital Hop and send out daily schedules to drivers.
- Take payments on a daily basis for services provided to clients
- To hire out mobility equipment at **Sedcat **Castlepoint Shopmobility; keeping accurate records and handling money in accordance with agreed procedures and guidelines.
- This post may involve working unsupervised and alone from time to time.
- To provide holiday and sickness cover for other members of staff. May be asked to cover Saturday Shopmobility cover very occasionally.
- To work with volunteer staff who assist with taking bookings.
- To provide mentoring and training of volunteers.
- Undertake any other administration duties commensurate with the post as required by the Manager.

**Joint Responsibilities**

Teamwork is essential to the smooth running of the organisation and all members of staff are required to play an active part in order to ensure that the requirements of service level agreement and good practice are met. Staff are required to comply with all decisions, policies and standing orders of **sedcat** and any relevant statutory requirements, for example, the Health and Safety at Work Act, Data Protection Safeguarding Adults and Confidentiality.

The post involves working and dealing with ‘vulnerable’ adults, both face to face and by telephone.

This job description sets out the main duties of the post when it was drawn up. These may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or the level of responsibility entailed. It is expected therefore that the post holder will undertake any other duties commensurate with post and allocated through line management.

**Essential**

Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good command of the English language
- Ability to work using own initiative, alone or whilst contributing as part of a team
- The ability to multi task with good attention to detail,
- Good general standard of education
- Clear, professional telephone manner and previous experience of dealing with clients by telephone.
- Accurate record keeping skills
- Good I T skills, ability to use a database and Microsoft programs.
- An understanding of mobility issues and a commitment to equal opportunities
- Previous experience of working in a service industry
- A commitment to Safeguarding and understanding the need to protect the personal information of clients.
- Must be able to provide holiday and sickness cover
