Role summary

Reporting to the Sustainability Advisor, the Sustainability Coordinator will work closely with in-house teams and selected contractors to support the implementation and further development of Pinewood’s Sustainability, Environmental and Energy Strategies and further enhance Pinewood’s position as a leader in sustainability in the film and high end TV industry.

The job holder will support colleagues, contractors, tenants and productions to help ensure that obligations under the relevant legislations are met, while aligning to Group policies and procedures. Where necessary, and as appropriate, the job holder will refer or escalate matters to the Head of Sustainability.

This role is based within the HSSC (Health & Safety, Security, Sustainability & Compliance) department and works closely with other Pinewood Group (PG) roles, including the Facility Services, Production Management, Finance and Property functions.

This role evenly splits their time between Pinewood Studios and Shepperton Studios each week, with the option to work circa one day per week from home, as required by the Head of Sustainability.

This role supports the department in the company’s delivery against its ambitious sustainability targets, whilst also contributing to the vision and strategy for the next phase of sustainability action.

Principle accountabilities
- A sustainability advocate who drives positive change across the Pinewood Group and assists with the delivery of the Sustainability and energy strategy
- Provide efficient and effective support in the collection, verification and reporting of various types of utility data, including identifying consumption anomalies and excessive variations in energy benchmarks; areas where energy related cost savings can be made; and identify CO2 savings
- Work in conjunction with clients and colleagues to ensure heating systems are only used when required; energy metering systems are updated / replaced in good time; accurate energy data & billing, department related work orders are raised and SLA tracked within the Group’s CAFM system (Loc8)
- Respond to, investigate, and report on environmental incidents on site
- Monitor environmental infrastructure & equipment, report any damages / issues and manage stock levels as required. Maintain an up to date log of checks completed on: spill kits, fuel tanks, interceptors, and outfalls
- General administration including carbon footprint tracker; purchase order raising & budget tracking; visitors management; facility access requests; hazardous waste collection management; and mobile caterer database management.
- Work with internal departments to create better visibility on energy use across the Group through consistent accuracy of sub metering and the management of the automated meter reader (AMR) system, to ensure accurate direct billing
- id the department in complying with all current and new energy and environmental legislation including but not limited to: ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme), ESG (environmental, social, and governance) and the Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations.

Nature and scope

The Sustainability Coordinator role will primarily be responsible for helping the Group to meet its sustainability obligations by supporting the Sustainability Team, as well as the wider HSSC team.

The job holder must be pro-active and prioritise their own workload which may include, but is not limited to, such activities as energy data collection and analysis, quantifying the energy savings to identify revenue and CO2 savings across the Group. Work with the Sustainability Advisor to identify consumption anomalies and variations in energy benchmarks, by comparing buildings across the Group’s studio sites.

This role works within a complex environment made up of numerous internal and external stakeholders. The job holder must be able to effectively communicate and prioritise demands based on risk and business priorities and in consultation with the Sustainability Team.

Skills and experience

Essential criteria
- Degree in Sustainability / Environmental Management, or similar.
- Experience of energy / environmental management systems.
- Writing reports and presenting to colleagues.
- Knowledge of environmental & sustainability legislation and regulatory requirements & compliance.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates discretion when dealing with high profile or confidential information.
- Maintains awareness of relevant legislation and updates.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
- Able to commute reliably between Shepperton and Pinewood sites.

Desirable criteria
- Post grad degree in relevant discipline.
- Graduate member of IEMA or other relevant membership.
- Experience in film, TV and media industry.
- Experience as a Sustainability Coordinator or similar role.
- Delivery of training to colleagues.
- Able to work autonomous
