We are looking for a Solar and Battery Commissioning Manager to join a growing green energy client.

To be considered for this role we would love you to have:
Experience in the commissioning of Solar and Battery Energy Systems into the UK Energy Market - with a focus on Trading/ Safety Controls and Operational Readiness

Experience in the UK Transmission & Distribution business including relevant interfaces - processes and protocols preferably with experience of NGET Transmission and commissioning procedures

Knowledge and experience of design/installation and commissioning of 132kv/275kv and 400kv Substations/HV Cabling Systems/ SCADA Protection and Control Systems

Knowledge/experience and understanding of the management of multi-discipline and multi-national contractors. You will have a proven track record of delivering and exceeding targets.

Experience of Commissioning Systems with discipline focus on Protection and Control / Interface Systems / Earthing solutions / Aux power systems / HVAC systems / Main Circuit apparatus /Telecoms infrastructure (including connections to ECC)/ SCADA systemsand approval/Sign-off and witnessing of all commissioning ITP and ITR

In depth knowledge of statutory/regulatory and licenced requirements

Electrical Engineering Degree at minimum level of BEng with preference for Masters and Chartered Engineer Status.

The Solar and Battery Commissioning Manager will have the following key duties and responsibilities:
You will support the Head of Construction in commissioning of all Solar and Battery projects onto the Distribution (33kv - 132kv) or Transmission networks (275kv - 400kv). This will include reviewing electrical and operational design of Solar and BatterySolutions produced by Project Development and Project Delivery teams to ensure safe, flexible, and operational projects are constructed.

You will develop and deploy a strategy for a brand-new Commissioning Function within Solar and Battery, which ensures the successful delivery of a wide portfolio of projects. This strategy will encompass the development, construction and operational aspectsof Solar and Battery.

You will recruit a team of Commissioning Engineers that will provide a high quality and highly regarded service supporting Client-Side Commissioning activities, witnessing functional testing/Stage 1, and leading on Stage 2 and assisting the Operational andMaintenance team in accepting the assets

You will have responsibility and accountability for the line management, team structure, Safety Health and Wellbeing, Quality compliance and Commissioning programme delivery, under the team's remit

You will develop, maintain, and implement a suitable Solar and Battery Commissioning Strategy that is compliant with internal Commissioning Processes and in accordance with CIGRE TB869

You will provide Advice and Guidance to the Project Development Team and Project Delivery Team with respect to HVDC and HVAC construction and commissioning on quality, risk, programme, Stage by Stage Diagrams, Outage Planning, Stage 1 and Stage 2 HV/LV commissioning,metering during construction, pre/post commissioning and be fully conversant with the company Safety Rules ensuring safety form the system.

You will provide input for Developing Outage Plans, Energisation Plans and Contingency Plans, and liaise with System Planning, Outage Planning, Transmission Control, Field Engineers, Commissioning Support, Asset Management, Policy Standards and OperationalMaintenance to ensure that Network Security is maintained during the delivery of all Solar and Battery Projects.

You and your team will manage the Interim, Limited and Final Operation Notice process required for all BMU’s, ensuring F.O.N completion aligns with the S&B Energisation Date

Manage the Certification Process required to enter the Frequency Market, ensuring an Independent Technical Expert verifies all commissioning works completed

You will Chair Commissioning Supervisory Panel meetings for Solar and Battery projects including representation from DNO, NGET and NGESO where necessary (including System Planning, Outage Planning, TCC, Operations, Maintenance, Asset Management, etc) tomeet DNO and NGESO Technical, Quality and Safety Standards, and confirming that design and operability factors are included, attending joint outage planning meetings with third parties as required.

You will approve Contractor Commissioning Plans and Energisation Plans for implementation into a Final Commissioning Report. You will approve handover of the System to Operations at the end of commissioning phase and successful completion of the ITP phases
