**Job summary**:
We’re looking for a Planning Data Validation Officer to join our planning and deployment team. This role will focus on improving the links between the planning data system with our other data systems to ensure our information is managed, shared and used efficiently and accurately.

Our Planning Officers play an important role in producing and updating the Estyn work programme, the operational management of planning data, inspection planning and re-scheduling of staff and external inspection resources.

Within the team, this role will have a particular focus on improving the links between our planning data with our other data systems (such as our HR database and Outlook calendar appointments) to ensure the information is shared efficiently and automatically.

This officer will work closely with our Data Engineer to monitor and improve the quality and consistency of our planning data, together with preparing management information from our system.

**Job description**:
**Key tasks include**:

- Scheduling and planning core and follow-up inspection work, including all non-inspection related work.
- Operational management of planning data, including HMI work programme and re-scheduling of resources to meet changing demands.
- Providing advice and support to Assistant Directors on inspection resource issues.
- Deployment of staff resources, including the resolution of resource conflicts and meeting changing demands.
- Identification of contracting requirements to support delivery of inspections.
- Training of staff in use and development of our planning data system.
- Identification of system enhancements, specifications and User-Acceptance Testing of new developments.
- Support and cover for team members where necessary.
- To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required by managers.

**Person specification**:
It’s essential that you:

- Are organised with good time management skills and able to manage competing priorities to ensure the timely delivery of information and meeting of deadlines.
- Have experience of contributing effectively to projects and are able to manage competing priorities to meet of deadlines.
- Have a strong understanding of data integrity, demonstrating a keen attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy within databases and systems.
- Have experience of developing and maintaining management information reporting systems, enabling effective and accurate data visualisation and interpretation to support informed decision-making.
- Demonstrate expertise in quality assurance processes such as being able to identify discrepancies or anomalies
- Have experience of suggesting areas for process and system improvement.
- Have good communication, literacy, numeracy and IT skills (including Microsoft Office)
- Have a positive and focused attitude to achieving outcomes.
- Be able to manage change and have strong problem-solving skills.
- Are approachable and able to form effective working relationships with people across Estyn, including senior managers and externally and have good interpersonal skills.

It is desirable that you have:

- Knowledge of inspection processes and systems
- Experience of resource planning and forecasting
- Practical knowledge of workforce planning or deployment systems
- Good data management skills
- The ability to allocate resources according to business need
- Experience of managing others
- Ability to work through the medium of Welsh
