The second, founded in 2017, optimizes flexible assets in the UK, Australian and US electricity markets and possesses strong electricity markets and data science expertise.

The power market, as one of the world’s most volatile commodities, is undergoing disruptive decarbonisation and has been overlooked by traditional trading firms. We combine the unique and complementary skill-sets of our parent companies to deliver algorithmictrading to Power exchanges, providing liquidity and depth to the green transition of Power markets. **Job description**

We are looking for a Compliance Officer to join our management team in London or Oxford and to support the development of our business into more complex markets and traded products. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Develop, maintain and monitor adherence to company policies and protocols relating to market rules and regulations;
- Support the journey to become MiFID II compliant;
- Continually monitor relevant regulatory and legal changes, advise management on impact and consult with and inform wider team;
- Investigate compliance requirements for new markets or products and communicate to relevant internal stakeholders and Board;
- Create and manage effective action plans in response to compliance or risk controls breaches;
- Ensure all employees have access to regular and comprehensive compliance training and that they are aware of all company processes;
- Regularly audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible areas for improved compliance and governance;
- Liaise with the Head of Compliance Risk Manager to ensure risk controls are compliant with the industry best practices;
- Resolve employee concerns about legal and regulatory compliance.

Given the small size of the company, you will be often interfacing directly with senior management and the Board of Directors.

The role and business will operate under a high degree of scrutiny from regulators and exchanges in the wholesale traded markets in areas such as REMIT, EMIR, MAR, MiFID and trading venue rules. Our company sets itself the highest standards in this areaand this role is central to achieving and maintaining this.

**Your skills and experience**:

- A degree in law, economics, finance, business management or a related field;
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience in a compliance officer role, with exposure to high-frequency trading and / or commodity trading highly desirable;
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations applied to energy markets, such as MiFID II and EMIR;
- Good oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to understand and synthesize complex legal and regulatory concepts and translate them for the various business stakeholders;
- A highly-analytical mindset with strong attention to detail;
- Strong work ethic and ability to work creatively to achieve identified goals;
- Strong problem-solving skills. Working in a startup requires an entrepreneurial spirit, strong proactivity and interpersonal skills, and the ability to learn new skills quickly.
