Job Title: Counter Assistant

Job Overview:
Join our team as a Counter Assistant and play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. As a Counter Assistant, you will serve in the takeaway section of our retail bakery. You will also assist in food and drink preparation by cooking our basic meal/snack selection for our coffee shop, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, uphold food safety standards, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our coffee shop operations.

The business is open from 8am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, and Saturday working is on a shared basis. Hourly rate of pay is £11.50 at age 21 years.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in food preparation tasks to ensure timely service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area
- Adhere to food safety protocols and regulations at all times
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills to handle peak hours efficiently
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service at the counter
- Utilize basic math skills for cash handling and order processing
- Implement upselling techniques to enhance the customer experience
- Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth coffee shop operations

**Experience**:

- Prior experience in a restaurant or food service environment is essential
- Knowledge of culinary basics is a plus
- Familiarity with food safety practices and regulations
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented setting
- Excellent communication and customer service skills

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract

Pay: £11.50 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
