Business Advisor

Social Enterprise Kent is recruiting a Business Advisor to join our fabulous team.

Social Enterprise Kent has established itself over the recent past as one of the main social enterprise bodies in Kent, giving advice to many charities and budding enterprises (both social and privately run), and running training and employment services.

We are a passionate believer in the power of social enterprise to effect positive change in our communities, and the importance of partnership working in all sectors.

**Purpose**

Based in our Margate office, with some field work around Thanet, the purpose of the role is to deliver business support to the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, and to deliver specialist 1:1 mentoring to existing and start up enterprises.

You will design and deliver 1-1 business support and advice, training courses, and workshops. You will represent SEK at events, networking and with relevant stakeholders.

Due to the nature of the role, travel across Kent will be required. Depending on customer needs, we occasionally have to work outside of office hours to set up and run events and workshops.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

**Business Support and Training Delivery**
- Deliver business support for local businesses, social enterprises and charities, completing all appropriate paperwork required
- Design and deliver appropriate management and voluntary sector courses and events across Kent, including workshops and bespoke training. Preparing training materials and PowerPoint slides.
- Represent SEK at a range of working groups, meetings and networking event, presenting where appropriate.
- Build the capacity and confidence of individuals who are wishing to start up a social enterprise or VCSE organisation, including business planning support through 1:1 support
- Foster growth within VCSEs, increase trading activity, innovation and business development
- Raise awareness and increase understanding of the work of social enterprise within Kent and the added value it brings
- Engage effectively with partners and other external organisations
- Foster a culture of mutual support and co-operation amongst VCSEs and arrange networking events
- Provide regular reports and updates on activities
- Actively contribute content to social media and for the wider marketing function.

**Strategic Vision**
- To report to the Senior management team at regular intervals concerning business support activities and future opportunities
- To develop relationships within the business sector and support business activities within the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector
- To contribute to the overall strategic business plan for the organisation,
- To identify future potential opportunities and contribute to develop the strategy and resources to seize these opportunities.
- To identify future grants and contracts, and support in developing bids and proposals to win this work.
- Any other reasonable tasks as requested by your manager.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £30,000.00 per year
