We have an exciting new opportunity for a RTPI and/or RICS qualified Senior Planner to join the Cardiff Planning Team.The team’s reach is particularly diverse, with a strong pipeline of projects for a wide variety of clients, acting UK-wide - spanningdevelopers, investors, major corporates / owner occupiers, land owning charities and education organisations.
This position of Senior Planner is an important role in the Cardiff Planning Team - to help deliver, a wide range of exciting and high profile projects. The Savills Planning Team in Cardiff consists of 12 planners and is a highly respected in South Walesand is an integral part of the biggest planning consultancy in the UK with over 240 planning specialists covering every land use sector and geographical area in the UK. Savills planning division has secured the number one position in Planning magazine’s AnnualConsultancy Survey as the largest planning consultancy in the UK, for the 6th consecutive year.
The Planning team is part of the largest property services firm in Wales and works seamlessly with colleagues in Development, Commercial Investment, Office Agency, New Homes, Energy & Sustainability and Property Management.
- MRTPI and/or MRICS, ideally with 2-5 years’ post-qualification experience.
- An enjoyment of writing, with excellent language skills and ability to effectively communicate planning arguments.
- A proven ability to multi-task, across many projects, helping to steer the team’s workload, managing projects capably - and reporting to directors, associate directors and associates in this team.
- A willingness and enthusiasm for mentoring and guiding junior planning and graduate level colleagues.
**Key Responsibilities**
- _Prepare planning appraisals of land, buildings and concepts._
- _Undertake research and analysis._

- _Write reports, interpreting data and making clear and relevant recommendations._
- _Contribute to the preparation/editing of Design & Access statements and other planning supporting documents._
- _Liaise and negotiate with planning officers, employees of consultee organisations, third parties._
- _Liaise and cultivate good relationships with clients and fellow professionals._
- _Develop creative and original solutions to satisfy all parties._
- _Ensure compliance with planning regulations._
- _Communicate and negotiate effectively with clients and colleagues._
- _Take responsibility for projects from the earliest stages through to completion._
- _Maintain an awareness of market conditions and the impact of government policies._
- _Keep informed about documents relating to planning policy and practice._
- _Build relationships with other divisions within Savills. _
- _Attend external events to create local contacts and identify business opportunities._
In addition to the tasks described above, the job holder may be required to carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
- Deal with instructions and clients alone, after an introductory period (seeking support as necessary).
- Identify new business opportunities (with or without support).
- Work independently in driving forward often complex projects (seeking support as necessary).
