**Project Executive - 2023 Cycling World Champs** **-* **(**23000004**)**
**Description**

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the international federation for cycling, currently stages annual individual world championship events in each of its cycling disciplines (from Road and BMX Racing to Urban and Para Track Cycling) in different host cities around the world.
In 2023, the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships (‘2023 UCI Cycling Worlds’) will bring together 13 UCI world championships from 7 different cycling disciplines in one unprecedented event for the first time ever, which will see thousands of the world’s best able bodied and para cyclists vying to be crowned world champion and win the prestigious ‘rainbow jersey’. The 2023 UCI Cycling Worlds is set to be the biggest cycling event ever to take place.
Reporting to the Programme and Risk Analyst, the Project Executive provides essential project support within the PMO and to the wider 2023 Cycling World Championships Ltd team.
This role will play a central role in the successful delivery of the programme plan and associated project support, from strategic planning through to operational delivery and evaluation.

Please note, HR support for 2023 Cycling Worlds Ltd, including recruitment activity is provided by VisitScotland Human Resources Team.

**Qualifications**

In order to be considered you will need to demonstrate the following:
**Experience**
- Educated to degree level with a proven track record in the national and/or international events industry in a sport or cultural context would be advantageous.
- Experience in project administration/ project management (ideally in an events context).
- Experience of working with a range of partner organisations and of building and maintaining relationships.
- Experience of working on projects across a range of organisations and of working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience of working in a central supporting role within a fast-paced, high-pressured project environment and servicing the needs for multiple team members of all levels.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining digital document storage solutions.

**Knowledge**
- A good level of knowledge and understanding of appropriate programme and project management methodologies and/or systems such as PRINCE 2 and WeTrack would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of event planning and delivery in a major events context is essential (within a sports context, particularly cycling, would be advantageous).
- An understanding of the Scottish Public Sector and public sector procurement would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of business planning and budgeting.
- Knowledge of major event, sport and cultural sectors.

**Skills**
- Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to present event concepts, ideas and proposals to small and large audiences in order to gain understanding, buy-in and support.
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work with a range of personnel and operate in a complex environment.
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and to be creative in problem solving.
- A proven ability to communicate and work in partnership with multiple internal and external partners and stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, flexible and continually changing environment and willingness to work as required.
- Politically and commercially astute, working within highly sensitive areas.
