Computational Modeller

We are looking for enthusiastic, creative, and suitably knowledgeable computational engineers to join our national civil and structural team.
We invite you to bring your interest, knowledge and energy in computational design into play as you contribute towards the growth and development of our division. To succeed in this role you must have previous work and/or university experience in computational design. We are looking for someone passionate about innovative design, and willing to push the boundaries and challenge the norm to deliver exceptional solutions for clients and society as a whole.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Contribute towards developing our in-house computational design tools and workflows and employing them on projects.
- Be able to work using your own initiative on technical aspects of building engineering design, preferably related to Structural or MEP Engineering.
- Demonstrate great attention to detail and show pride in the work produced.
- Manage time on projects to suit deadlines and complete your assigned tasks as stipulated by the Hydrock project manager.
- Provide specific specialist technical assistance on larger/ complex projects where the use of computational methods allows optimisation of design
- Review current work practices and identifying efficiency areas that would benefit from development e.g. Building models, optimizing layouts, generative design, complex geometry solving, form finding.
- Collaborating with other Hydrock disciplines to explore efficiencies between them on multi-dis projects
- Reviewing and testing software
- Driving marketing initiatives and working alongside the national C&S engineering team

- To have achieved or be working towards a professional status, e.g. CEng or IEng, if applicable.
- To have a deep interest in and/or experience using digital and parametric design tools. We seek engineers that fit with our culture and have experience working digitally.
- Experience in Rhino/Grasshopper and/or another form of coding is essential, and Revit and/or Dynamo is preferred.
- Excellent spoken and written English, and the ability to work with other professionals in design workshops.
- Role location can be in any of Hydrock national structural offices

We have now returned to our offices; some of us full time, though many of us now choose to split our time between working from home and working in the office. If you’re in the office every day you’ll have a designated desk to use. For those who hybrid work our offices are now set up for hot desking, so you can select and book a desk through our cloud booking system. By offering you more flexibility, our aim is to enable everyone to work in a way that best facilitates productivity, work life balance and collaboration.
