When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to. At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. And you could be a part of the team making it happen.

**The role**

As Public Affairs Officer at Young Lives vs Cancer you’ll be a key part of the team taking the voices of children and young people with cancer and their families to policy makers, elected representatives, and other decision makers. You'll help us ensure our policy and influencing work has maximum impact through our public affairs and campaigning, delivering on our commitment to changing the system with and for children and young people with cancer and their families.

In this role you will;
- Engage with, and maintain excellent working relationships with, key stakeholders and partners including elected representatives, government officials, coalitions, and other charities
- Co-provide the secretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Children, Teenagers and Young Adults with Cancer
- Support our exciting campaigning and influencing activities through our public affairs activity
- Utilise policy evidence to drive our public affairs engagement.

**About you**

You’ll be:

- Experienced in managing relationships and meeting with stakeholders
- Able to use your knowledge of politics, public affairs and/or policy environments in your day to day work
- An excellent communicator both internally with your team and with external relationships
- Excited at the prospect of delivering influencing and campaigning activities which put the voice of children, young people and parents at its core
