London, United Kingdom Pancreatic Cancer UK Full time

**The role**

We’re expanding our Campaigns, Health Improvement, and Policy team We’re on the search for a Public Affairs Officer to help pancreatic cancer get the recognition it deserves with parliamentary decision-makers and other key stakeholders in England and Wales. This is a very exciting time to join our team, following a successful year that saw us achieve big wins for people with pancreatic cancer through our influencing work. We also reached record levels of engagement with parliamentarians from across England and Wales. We’re on the cusp of launching a new organisational strategy for the next five years, which will involve a big increase in our public affairs work as we approach the 2024 General Election in Westminster and continue to push for action on pancreatic cancer in Wales.

As our Public Affairs Officer, you’ll play a key role in influencing the cancer landscape: building relationships with Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the Senedd (MSs), monitoring parliamentary engagement activity to maximise influencing opportunities, and working reactively and at a fast pace to respond to government inquiries, statements and reports to ensure we remain a leading voice in the cancer sector.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Public Affairs Manager and Head of Devolved Nations to ensure the profile of pancreatic cancer stays high on the agenda in England and Wales. You’ll also plan and deliver activities to work with key stakeholders and engage with people affected by the disease to ensure that our policy positions represent them.

**About you**
- You’ll have a sound knowledge of political processes, strong stakeholder management skills, and an understanding of how to work with parliamentarians.
- You’ll be a great communicator who can explain complex policy information in a clear and accessible way to a range of external audiences, from MPs to people personally affected by pancreatic cancer.
- You’ll have experience working in a fast-paced environment and will enjoy working reactively to respond to external pressures and deadlines.

**About us**

Pancreatic cancer is a tough one, but we’re taking it on. It’s tough to diagnose, tough to treat & tough to research. For too long this disease has been side-lined. We want to make sure that everyone affected by it gets all the help they need. Underpinning this vision are our four values:

- Pioneering
- Compassion
- Determined
- Integrity

We cannot achieve our vision without employing people who are committed to our vision, strategy, and values.

At PCUK our ambition is to create an inclusive working environment that reflects the communities and audiences that we engage with and where everyone can be their true selves, where they feel respected, championed, heard, and supported. We want our workforce to achieve their potential, understand their contribution and feel proud of their impact by creating a culture and organisation that is genuinely inclusive by advancing equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging through our policies and practices.

We believe diversity drives great outcomes by encouraging the different points of view that come from a diverse workforce. We want to hear from and engage with people whose experience of dealing with this disease may be very different depending on their individual circumstances and background can think of no better way to do this than by ensuring that this role fully represents our intent therefore

**How to apply**
- You will need to have the right to work in the UK as we are not able to provide sponsorship for this role.
- Please note that the first round of interviews will be held remotely via Zoom on 14 June 2023.

**No agencies/sales call please - as a charity, we work hard to keep our costs down and therefore will not be engaging agencies to support this recruitment.
