**Overview**:
This is a newly created role for Krystals as part of our current expansion plans with scope to really bring your experience and put your stamp on the role. The Transport Planner would be responsible for overseeing the Transport Function within Krystals. You would be responsible for planning and arranging the delivery of our customer requirements on time. This would need to be done in the most cost-effective manner yet maximising the use of the resources available and within the current legislative environment. Resources include our own fleet of vehicles and drivers and when required, access to external hauliers and drivers.
You would use our existing Planning Tools and Processes to build up loads several days forward as new orders come in from customers so that they receive their products when requested yet within the parameters as set out above. Our fleet consists of 25 vehicles which do multidrops, going out several times a day. This is intricately tied to our Production Teams and will require an awareness of their environment.
In addition to outgoing, you will also be responsible for coordinating inbound deliveries into a planning schedule so that your fellow warehouse colleagues are aware of what is coming in and when.
You will work alongside a small team of coordinators, warehouse and transport operators and drivers to realise the Plan.
**Responsibilities**:
These are the main responsibilities in this role:
- Consistent Route and Load Planning accounting for any specific requirements using the Tools available
- Planning in Supplier Collections as required
- Allocating loads to vehicles and drivers, accounting for issues such as Available Drivers, Weight Restrictions, Delivery Booking In Times.
- Booking In of Deliveries with customers
- Sourcing and organising of External Hauliers as required
- Managing driver holidays, absences, return to work processes
- Organising drivers for cover as needed including Agency Cover and ensuring the correct processes are followed
- Constant communication with the drivers and other fellow colleagues within Krystals to ensure efficient execution of the Transport Plan
- Making any adjustments through the day as required to ensure all planned deliveries reach their intended destination on time
- Co-ordinate and prepare a daily Inbound Delivery schedule by booking in deliveries with suppliers and communicating this to your warehouse and other relevant colleagues.
- Troubleshooting and resolving and issues that may arise during the day.
- Communication with customers and suppliers as needed to keep them informed of any changes to their booked arrival time.
- Sound knowledge of VOSA Requirements in order to be compliant in achieving above which includes maintaining the necessary Transport Documentation. This includes tachograph downloads & infringement management, monitoring and managing driver’s hours and ensuring OCRS points remain ‘green’ at all times.
- Ensuring commercial vehicles are maintained in accordance with the Planned Schedules, liaising with colleagues to ensure it happens and monitor progress
- Addressing any issues on the vehicles that arise as a result of the Maintenance or during normal day to day operations.
- Report, evaluate and solve non-conformance matters that arise during the day
- Ensuring Drivers are trained and Training Records are up to date
- Assist in the recruitment process as required.
- Prepare and submit management reports including analysis & KPIs
- Work with management to improve efficiency across your Operations and implement changes
- Undertake certain responsibilities of fellow colleagues in the event of absence
- Any other reasonable request by management
**The Person**:
The successful applicant would need to have:
- A good knowledge of the VOSA requirements and other related Legislation.
- Transport Manager qualification advantageous
- A sound geographical awareness
- A minimum one year’s experience as a dedicated Transport Planner
- Experience in Manufacturing, Warehouse and Transport.
- Strong levels of initiative
- High levels of Health and Safety awareness
- Good Organisational skills
- Strong IT and numerical skills
- Strong Communication skills - spoken and written
- Strong Teamworking skill
- High Levels of Flexibility (eg. During busy periods)
- Able to work under pressure
- Able to prioritise workload
- People management skills
- Develop relationships both internally and externally
**Remuneration Structure**:
- Competitive Salary
- Standard office hours for this role would be 7.30am - 4.00pm, Monday to Friday
- The role may require flexibility in hours dependant on department demands
- 20 days holiday plus public holidays
- Further possibility of progression possible as the Organisation expands.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £26,000.00-£27,500.00 per year
