**Assistant Nurture Lead**

**Main Purpose of Post: To ensure that children are safe, healthy and have opportunities for learning and development within an inclusive nursery setting.**

**As Assistant Nurture Lead you will be working in our Nurture Base at Life Bank Nursery. You will need to**:
1. To support the nursery management in the delivery of a high quality service to children from birth to five and their families.

2. To work with the Nursery Management Team to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage.

3. To ensure that the welfare requirements of EYFS are met.

4. To comply with all record keeping systems, nursery policies and procedures.

5. To operate within the Nursery’s procedures for keeping children safe.

6. To work in a flexible way to meet the needs of the nursery, its children, parents and staff.

7. Have a secure knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and the Graduated Approach in regard to identifying and supporting children with SEN

8. Have a secure understanding of play plans, social communication journals, EHCPs.

9. In the absence of Nurture Lead be able to maintain class routine and high quality teaching and learning.

10. Support Nurture Lead to complete and submit referral forms to external professionals.

11. Support Nurture Lead in planning a unique curriculum to meet the needs of the children you work with.

12. Teach either individuals or small groups of children within, or outside, the class.

13. Prepare lessons and resources to ensure targets on EHCPs are being met.

14. Be responsible for a key group of children.

15. Liaise with SENCO colleagues to support children in making the transition into Nurture Room

16. Use specialist skills, such as Bucket Therapy to engage children in developing social communication skills or willing to undertake training.

17. Assess children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupils' special needs.

18. Work with the nursery manager to ensure that the requirements of the Equality Act (2010) are met in terms of reasonable adjustments and access arrangements.

19. Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and educational psychologists in the absence of Nurture Lead

20. Work closely with parents and carers.

21. Assist in meeting children’s personal care/medical needs.

22. Carry out administrative tasks, including updating and maintaining records of children's progress in regard to EYFS and/or EHCP targets.

23. Attend statutory annual reviews or other related meetings, such as Looked After Child (LAC) reviews, regarding children with an SEN, which may involve reviewing education, health and care (EHC) plans in the absence of Nurture Lead.

24. Have a commitment to continue to develop your CPD which may require training outside working hours.

25. To carry out, as necessary, any other duty deemed to be commensurate with the grade and status of the post and skills and experience of the post holder.

**Skills and Qualifications**
- Level 3 or above in Childcare
- Level 3 or above SENCO Award
- Specialist training relating to children with SEND
- Paediatric First Aid
