You will assist Professor Alex Balch (Primary Investigator) in developing a policy laboratory (Policy Lab) on human trafficking at the University of Liverpool (UoL). The Policy Lab currently consists of the PI, PO, and 2 PhD students. The PO will work closely with other APRIES colleagues and international project partners. The Policy Lab will operate in partnership with the co-ordinating APRIES team based at UGA. This is part of a 5-year award funded by the US State Dept (Program To End Modern Slavery, PEMS). The Policy Officer (PO) will be located in the School of Histories, Languages and Cultures.- Under the direction of Professor Alex Balch, the main tasks of the PO will include:
- Oversee programme of research relating to policies and their translation into policy change
- Co-development of project protocols, ethical approvals, project outputs
- Management and oversight of UoL Policy lab
- Regular attendance at team meetings (usually via video-link)
- Supporting and participating project development, including visits to countries where fieldwork and programming is taking place
- Preparing publications and other outputs relating to the project
- Co-ordinating other collaborative activities relating to the project;
- Co-ordination, facilitation and contributions to conferences, workshops and other events;
- Undertaking evaluations, grey literature reviews and surveys of publications;
- Contributing to external communications and other public engagement activities;
- Helping foster closer links between project partners and with stakeholders
- Presenting a positive image of the project to those involved in activities relating to it, establishing and maintaining an extensive network of contacts internally and externally
- Undertaking other duties commensurate with the grade as required by the PI
- You should be educated to Masters level qualification in related discipline and/or professional development/training in the area of research impact and policy engagement. The post is to cover a period of maternity cover, duration is 6 months fixed term, as soon as possible by 1 February to 31 July 2023.
