**Conservation Officer - Royal Borough of Greenwich (Part Time)**

- Part Time role - 17.5 hours per week
**Essentials**:
- The successful applicant will need to have an appropriate qualification in Building Conservation, Town Planning, Architecture or a related discipline.
- Eligibility for membership of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) is desirable but not essential.
- You’ll need to demonstrate a proven ability to make competent decisions on listed building and conservation area related matters, complemented by a good understanding of current legislation, policy, guidance and best practice in relation to planning and heritage matters.

**Job Role**:
- To be responsible to, and deputise in the absence of, the Planning Policy Manager to provide a specialist service on conservation and listed buildings.
- To advise the Planning Policy Manager and other senior officers as required on matters relating to conservation and listed buildings.
- Working within a small Conservation and Urban Design team, you’ll play a proactive role in protecting and enhancing Royal Greenwich’s extensive historic built environment.
- You’ll be responsible for providing specialist advice and guidance on the full range of heritage matters, ensuring that the highest possible design standards are achieved within new development.
- In addition to providing advice to Development Management on all scales of proposals throughout the planning process, you’ll also manage a diverse listed building caseload, and provide technical and design advice to listed building occupiers and those in conservation areas.
