Senior Purchase Ledger Clerk

An exceptional opportunity has arisen in one of the longest established businesses in Bristol, based close to Long Ashton, and with additional depots in Devon and the West Midlands.

**Position: Senior Purchase Ledger Clerk**
**Structure**:Reporting to the Finance Manager, with support responsibility for team. You will have already had two years’ experience in a finance department, be proficient with the use of accounting ledgers and excel as well as confident in preparing month end management account packs.
This is a highly varied role, and very hands on, as we have a small team of 5 with whom you will work closely
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Invoice Processing** - Receive, review, and process supplier invoices, ensuring they are accurate and approved. - Code invoices to the appropriate general ledger accounts. - Enter invoice details into the accounting system.
**Supplier Payments** - Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments. - Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date and resolve any invoice discrepancies. - Maintain and update the supplier database with payment details and contact information.
**Reconciliation** - Reconcile supplier statements to the ledger accounts on a regular basis. - Investigate and resolve discrepancies between supplier statements and company records. - Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes by reconciling accounts payable transactions
**Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve payment and invoice issues**. - Respond to supplier queries and follow up on outstanding invoices. - Maintain good relationships with suppliers through timely and accurate communication.
**Record Keeping** - Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchase ledger records. - Ensure proper filing and storage of financial documents. - Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
**Compliance and Procedures** - Ensure all financial transactions comply with company policies and relevant regulations. - Adhere to internal controls and financial procedures. - Continuously seek to improve processes and procedures for greater efficiency.
**Assistance in completing monthly management accounts** - Completion of monthly prepayment and accrual packs with balance sheet reconciliation - Ownership or general ledger controls to trial balance level. - Monthly supplier recharge reconciliations - Preparing monthly variance analysis of overhead nominals against budget, attending a monthly review meeting with FM and MD.
**General**:
- Back up for all team members including delegating tasks and supporting team members when FM is travelling or on annual leave - Adhoc projects liaising with the procurement team.

- Strong aptitude for finance and proficient in accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Hands on nature, but also able to grasp the big picture
- Have a thorough, methodical and logical approach
- Self-motivation; the ability to integrate into a team
- Technically enthusiastic to learn all aspects of the ERP systems and become the “expert”
- Working towards or already qualified with Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)
- Great personality, who is disciplined in approach, but flexible in delivery
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- Flexible working attitude with good time management skills
- Strong delegation skills and ability to support other team members
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable communicating with both internal and external stakeholders of varying levels
- The capacity to understand and handle complex information and solve problems
- Discretion and honesty when handling confidential information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Pay: £25,000.00-£27,500.00 per year
