- Job description- If you’re part of the Environment Agency, you’re part of the solution. Working with us means protecting and improving the environment for future generations, tackling issues of national importance across a huge variety of disciplines.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of our Asset Performance teams in Yorkshire, where you will have an important role in managing our flood risk assets. You will be helping to deliver a wide variety of work to ensure that we have the right flood risk assets in the right places, in the correct condition and they are ready to operate when required.
As an Advisor (senior member of the team) you will identify, prioritise, and deliver asset management activities. You will provide technical leadership and help develop colleagues. This role is very varied so you may be influencing a capital project one day, preparing for incidents the next day and liaising with contractors, residents, and partners on another.
You will help manage our data to ensure it is of a high quality and can be relied on to inform our future investment programme. Site visits are an essential part of the role. There is also an opportunity to work on incident response.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and workplace adjustments will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team- Our team manage the whole lifecycle of our flood and coastal erosion risk management assets, i.e., planning, delivery, maintenance, decommissioning. We are responsible for ensuring our assets are constructed, inspected, surveyed, assessed, maintained, and operated in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. This is a front-line role working to better protect local communities from flooding by ensuring our assets are ready and operate as intended.
- Experience/skills required- We're seeking people with a passion for the environment and asset management experience to protect communities who are at risk of flooding. The way in which you adapt, communicate, and use your initiative to overcome challenges will set you apart.
Ideally, you'll have an engineering or science background and can demonstrate the following which are advantageous:

- A knowledge of flood risk management
- Formal qualifications in some of the following areas: civil engineering, data and information management (e.g., GIS) and Health and Safety are desirable
- Practical experience of undertaking works in accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
- Comparable relevant technical knowledge.
- Proven data management skills
- Health, safety, and environmental awareness
- Full UK or EU driving licence

Please note that CVs are not accepted, and that your answers to the capability questions will be used for interview selection.
- Contact and additional information-
We have a superb benefits package, including generous annual leave, an excellent pension, and flexible working arrangements.. We also offer extensive training to develop your career.

Interviews will be held at the end of June.
