**Mencap have an exciting new opportunity within our Programmes and Networks team for a Community Partner** **to work across **one** **communit**y in** **St Austell**, as well as **providing** **additional** support for the programme to help us expand our reach and impact.**

This role is a combination of working out in the local communities and being home based. It is a full time (37.5 hrs per week) fixed term contract until April 2027. We are happy to be flexible with working patterns so let us know if you would like to discuss job share or part-time opportunities.

We are looking for someone with knowledge of the sport and wellbeing sector, who enjoys getting people active within communities and has the mindset for community-led ways of working. Working alongside Sport England as a System Partner, Mencap’s vision is for people with learning disabilities, and the communities in which they live, to be more physically active, happy and healthy. We are recruiting a team of 5 Community Partners to help us achieve this vision, who will be working across nine communities across England.

**As **a **Community Partner you will **work **collaboratively with people from** **St Austell** **to develop the **capacity** of these communities. **You will ensure the work is co-produced with the community and especially by people with a learning disability. **You will help unite people** around a shared vision** and goals**,** create a **development plan** and support the creation of **new ideas** and local solutions** to** enable** more active communit**ies**. **These solutions will build on existing strengths and address local priorities.**

You will need to build and maintain excellent working relationships and communicate easily and effectively with people from different backgrounds. It is crucial that you can connect with people and facilitate partnership work. You will work alongside Community Connectors, who will have a learning disability, and who will live in the communities you are working in.

Part of this role will also involve supporting the wider team (who are each supporting two communities), with different areas of work. You will help develop and expand our network reach and support the other 8 communities as required across the lifetime of the programme. You will need to have flexibility as this work evolves, and be a team player.

Day to day, you can expect to be out and about in the communities and to be desk-based, capturing what we are learning and supporting the wider development of this national capacity-building programme. Working across two communities you will be great at managing your time and willing to travel as and when required.
